So, I tried out Loomis.

I don't really know if I'm doing this shit right, but I feel like I kind of understand 3d shapes a bit better.

You're drawing symbols of facial features, not actual eyes, noses, mouths, etc. Watch some videos and read some books, learn how the things look and work. And secondly, you're drawing the facial features and face on a flat plane, rather than following the curve of the head. This is the only time I would suggest loomis, but loomis. Just don't feel that you have to emulate his style. Use it to learn more about 3D space. Your other drawings look pretty good I gotta say, keep working at it comrade!

Eyes are lopsided compared to the nose and mouth. The head is viewed in a slight 3/4 but the part in the hair is shown by a vertical line instead of a line that wraps around the head in 3D space. Her right cheekbone seems wider than her left, her cranium is too small for her face, and her neck is too thin for her head and doesn't look attached.

you are trying to paint a scene with really heavy atmosphere, grass everywhere etc etc all of which makes for extremely soft edges, with all hard edges. a huge part of the 'essence' of this scene is softness, watery, heavy, moist air.

use some softer brushes and pay attention to shapes. you've got the colors pretty much down but you arent drawing the shapes the way they are at all and you are just scribbling to try to show detail. PAY ATTENTION to what is there

I'm trying to shorten the amount of time it takes me to finish images mainly due in part to boredom. the most I can spend on any image is like 4-6 hours which isnt enough.

I think in a years time I should be able to make a living off art given I improve during that time.

this. i don't get people who finish fun with a pencil so fast. i am at page 34 trying to apply the ball shape to his babby faces and use that as a guide to copy them and think about their perspective. it took me like 2 weeks to get to this page(though it could have taken me less time if i had been drawing more).
point being, you just dont réad through loomis. you do the exercises until you understand what he is trying to tell you and then move on when you think you are capable of reproducing this stuff for yourself without references. you are not suppossed to just copy his drawings/style, you are suppossed to take the fundamentals he teaches you and then apply them to your own drawings. do the exercises with your characters, not his. it will take more time but it's also noticably more fun and you will learn more from it.

Excellent lines, very textural, try pulling those blues a little closer to the building. The glowing effect around the building is pretty successful in the context of your painting though. So if you do pull that blue in i'll leave how close up to you. Try to add some more dark blacks under the bottom right shape. Maybe smooth out your brush strokes in the background as well. That should push the building forward more. Right now the background is a little too equal in intensity. Hope I said something useful.

I've been doing a lot of Disney-inspired stuff lately, just to break into it, and it is difficult. In a lot of ways you have to scrap everything you know about facial anatomy and exaggerate everything. You're embarrassing yourself. Please stop replying if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

The height of the eye would remain the same, given the distance from the viewer. Perspective has very little effect on the face, unless the viewer is extremely close.

Anyway, the angle and shape of her right eye (our left) would be different, given that eyes are not symmetrical objects. The height would remain unchanged and the width would be slightly narrower.

Pic related. It looks far more natural.

Like 1000x700 for sketch - I bump 300% to render.

I think it's one of the brushes from shaddy's pack for environments - It has a hard edge so I used it. You can do the same thing with a hard brush and a texture overlay. I just like it because it feels like a brush, whatever that means.

The reason you "failed" I wouldn't call it that,Is a lack of fundies. Forms Values anatomy ect.
Best advice I can give - when it comes to rendering, experimentation, alot of it. Eventually you'll find something that works for you that you can derive enjoyment from.

I have colored images. I'm trying to reduce problems atm fixing values mood lighting pose ect in the early stages. If you see a problem fix it early don't wait till later...The headaches uhuhGHUGUGUHHU .

Also don't force yourself learning comes through time. it doesn't happen overnight. Just keep drawing.
