first time I've done one of these studies, first time I've drawn a portrait after something at all actually. I'm kinda surprised it turned out like it did.

I kinda started drawing with photoshop and tablet a month ago so I havent gotten around to really find any good brushes, at the moment I have a handfull with managing the transition from traditional to digital.

the proportions of the eyes was somewhat off, making her face look bigger, but nothing a little fiddling can't fix, even though it's cheating.

You've misaligned practically all the features. That could have been avoided by drawing a simple guildeline down the middle of the face. The mouth is too far left, the nose too far right, and the chin just kind of wanders off to the left. Seriously, you say you checked proportions but lining up the features is one of the easiest things to do if you just add that single guideline.

Also, you've made the left side waaay too fat and threw off the whole direction of the face. It's almost like you drew the hand first then tried to mould the face on to it or something.

Look at the ref. Do you really think the nose in your drawing lies anywhere near where the ref's nose lies? Look at where the center of your chin is. Now look at the ref.

Also, you seem to have forgotten the face curves when it's at 3/4 view. drawing a straight line from the forehead to the chin as if you were drawing a face dead on will give you some fucked up results, as evidenced by your drawing. The head is not flat.

Also, your eyes are on two completely different planes. Try drawing a straight line to connect them corner to corner. You can't. It just looks like you put no effort in the construction.

i can see now that the cheek stands out by a few pixels and curves a bit too much. eyes need to bit a bit wider. position of the hand and collar (which shouldnt affect the face so much).

It helps me to look quickly from one picture to the next & whatever "moves" is incorrect.
Also, holding it in a mirror/ looking at it from a distance/zoomed out or drawing upside down willl help you.
Try holding your pencil along the angles that you need to copy and sliding it right over to your work surface. You can copy angles more correctly this way.
(I noticed that your jaw area on the right needs to come down.)

All I can tell you really is pay more attention and try and actually analyse her mood. The likeness is actually pretty good you just idealised things to much; it's not quite drawing with symbols since you've clearly far surpassed that but you seem to have a tendency to make things look more perfect than they are, which is a skill on it's own I suppose but it's also useful to be able to convey emotion and to still know where to leave in imperfections. If someone looks too perfect they become unrelatable,
