I also don't think absolute, uninspired beginners are the only people that would 'cream about drawing this kind of bland "pwetty" fuckery'. That's more of what you're interested in subject-matter-wise. A more diverse artist wouldn't mind drawing more bizarre and not of the norm subjects but some artists (e.g. pin-up girl artists) would draw stuff like this.

There wasn't much to learn in that reference anyway:
-It's grayscale, eliminating challenges associated with color. Painting in grayscale from a colored reference would be a more useful exercise if you can already approximately copy values.

-Lights are overblown, and the two strong light sources and artificially increased contrast masks a lot of the form. Few things look like that under normal lighting conditions, and when they do, it's preferable to make one light source dominant and the other one secondary. Forms are much more readable that way.

-Crop is too tight to really glean anything from the anatomy. If the lighting were simpler, you might be able to pick out some nuances in the torso. For beginning and intermediate artists, figure studies should include the whole body.

tldr; That's an artsy photo - not one that's a suitable reference for an artist

I'm very guilty of a horrible reference folder. The only difference between my porn folder and my reference folders is that my porn folder has pornographic videos in them.

I am deeply ashamed. I might just start another ref folder, but the temptation to add cute girls is too damn high.

Most of these refs kind of stink. It's just beautiful girls. How would you even apply this? I feel brain rot thinking about it.

The only thing I can think of is anatomy studies maybe copy an arm? I totally get the desire to draw a girl doing a handstand split in 3/4 view. And you want to be able to draw that. But by that point, the pose is so unnatural it sucks all of the focus out of the image.
