I found some watercolors a couple of hours ago. I haven't painted before actually and this has been a fun experience for me, I'm looking foward to painting more pictures with watercolors.
I just have a problem, i found only one brush and I used standard paper, which kind of tore apart during the first few minutes of my painting, but the next painting was put more time into and it's paper remains whole.

Here is my first try at painting, it's a red fox. You can see the hole in the paper where the mouth should be. What do you guys think?

Why does it look like you cumed on it?

I sketched before painting, it helped me out but I don't know if that's how people usually do it. I would love some tips regarding paper, technique and of course a critique of my work(s)

Here's the sketch of my next project. The fox took 20 minutes alltogether, this sketch itself took about 30 minutes due to my lack of practice in drawing

and here's the finished deer painting. I forgot about the color change that comes with drying so I repainted the whole thing 3-4 times and it looks like this in the end. I had a hard time making fur-like texture, as you can notice on the neck. But nevertheless I'm satisfied

I would love some advice, but also if you have a wish which animal I could paint next it would be great

That's really bad paper for watercolor. It's just going to keep tearing and dry wrinkly. Watercolor requires thick paper.

I really like that OP. Very good especially for a first attempt. You gotta get some heavier paper though. Watercolour paper is great but I use watercolour on thicker sketchbook paper and it doesn't get all soppy and tear like that even after multiple layers.

I'm glad you like it, I'll try to find that kind of paper

It looks good, it's just too bad it will be ruined since you used printing paper.
