Sure they do, otherwise we wouldn't have multiple types of brushes with multiple textures in real life.

They won't suddenly give you amazing skills but they allow you to use different textures.

Plus the ink brushes are very sharp--much sharper than the default Hardness 100% brush in Photoshop--and the pressure sensitivity is pretty comfortable.

A good brush that can simulate the different tones, weights, and textures of a pencil or vine charcoal stick are useful to do studies with. When one is trying to do speedy exercises, it helps to not have to switch between 4 different brushes just to get actual tone down.

Oh ok sorry, yeah, I made that post pretty late in the night for me.

I did indeed make that same mistake when I was very new to digital art, thinking that using my favorite artists brushes would let me draw just like them. It's an awful trap to fall into.

Good brushes help for digital art, but they don't make the picture.
