Nice painting. I know this isn't a critique thread, but watch out for that banding along the arms...the way there are stripes going up the arm for the highlights. You want to avoid painting that kind of highlight by just drawing the brush straight up the length of the art, The banding you've got now never looks good, and is a common rookie move.

Yes, highlights can run along the arm in a lengthwise manner, but it doesn't really happen that way, and even as a stylistic thing it never works.

Try blending, maybe with a fan brush, back and forth along the WIDTH of the arm. You do not want to be left with those stripes.

My two cents. Take it or leave it.

I fixed it already; this is just the only photo I have of the painting as it stands; I actually have it on me-- I just have to get that right-- I never thought about a fan brush though-- I thought those were for genuine trees and what not I have one for acrylics and ink-- maybe I'll try it out on my next painting.

It's not just not complete, it's flat out bad. The rib cage doesn't make sense, and the difference in direction between it and the hips is so extreme she appears to have twisted herself into a broken spine. The plane of her collarbones also appears to be different than the rest of her chest, and her head is waaaaay too small for the rest of her body.

But Gobelins is unrealistic, you need to already be a really good animator, there's an age restriction, and you need to speak french.

Cal Arts is great for the connections you make and the guest speakers but it's really (REALLY) expensive.

Ringling is another good one. I don't know the details but it's definitely one of the top schools.

If you live in Canada, I recommend Capilano University (where I went) because: You are in a class of 24, and each of you have your own station, with an animation desk and a Cintiq. Really good environment to grow. Most schools you have to share work spaces and you don't have all your classes with the same people. The tuition is also one of the cheapest in the world. It's under $7000 for both years, because it's government funded.

I totally agree. I've drawn some of what I guess is considered 'anthro', but I tend to keep it similar to the way I draw kids and stuff. And those characters are intended to be at least mostly child-friendly.

I grew up with so many kids cartoons with 'animal people' as the main characters, (as I'm sure many of us did) and I adored them--but it never crossed my mind to become obsessive or sexual with that sort of thing. Nor to really step it up to the typical bipedal animal person you see all over the place.

If I'm drawing a creature with those kinds of legs, it's intended typically to be some kind of bipedal monster or critter.

The problem is that it's banned from any kind of search tools. If you look in the tags for 'mecha' and x person draws fantastic mecha all the time, it'd be perfect for you. Except they also drew nudies two weeks ago, so you won't see their blog.

It's really terrible for artists because of no exposure.

oval boobs, with bleeding colours off the pink...thing (What practical purpose would a piece of fabric like that even serve?) onto the blue. They also don't drop a shadow in spite of what was probably supposed to be rather large size; making them appear flat

chicken scratch outlines made extra thick lines to try and hide how inconsistent they are in thickness
