It's a mountain of shit, even the clippy paid stuff. Pick any 10-50 clippy costing asset that you might think is good and there is maybe like a 25% chance it's actually good.

Scrolling through their asset shop now and I'm amazed they haven't pulled the plug on the paid assets thing entirely. Exactly, it is a one and done on PC but the program also has a dedicated asset "store" where anyone can upload materials that can be easily downloaded right to CSP. The majority of it is free though. Most people have currency to burn because they gave out a bunch of it for free around christmas so that should tell you all you need to know about the value of it.

CSP has a built-in mosaic under filter.
If you want a brush, your best bet would just be to find a square brush and set it to spray particles and have color jitter.

Of course it's 6 bucks now but the total starts to adds up.
Assuming that you just buy the base/ pro version of CSP, it'll take only 8 months of that subscription to cost just as much as the single buy and after that you'll be paying more. After a year you would have payed a total of just under 100 bucks and it just keeps on getting higher.
Whereas with a single buy purchase it will only cost 50 bucks and then... that's it, no matter how long you have it for/ how much you use it, the software would have only costed you 50 bucks.
It's just annoying seeing how much shit nowadays is subscription based, I just want to buy something and be done with it.
Power to you if you don't care too much about it though, like you said it is just 6 bucks but I just hate how you can't really "own" stuff nowadays.

Permanent licenses have always had limited updates. Live services give you more updates at a similar price over time. Hell, most of the time it works out in your favor due to inflation. Same reason why 0% interest credit is better than paying upfront.

Make a bunch of hard round brushes and add all the textures to them. When someone registers the brushes to their program, the textures will register as well. Then you can delete the brushes, and the textures will remain.

Depends what you're using csp for, if it's just drawing then pro is more than enough. Ex is for seriously working on comics (there's some multi-page organizing function I never explored) or long animations (pro gets you only 24 frames, ex unlocks it)
You can also get pro first then decide to upgrade later, there's a discount for the amount you spent on pro.

yeah the only weird brushes I actually use are particle effects on a dodge layer and SOMETIMES some watercolour texture shit or a painterly blender, but usually it's just hard round size, soft round opacity and the eraser version of each of those. As for the gradient map, I put every single gradient in that set in a .clip file, you're gonna have to save them manually, it's not that hard, just select the layer of the gradient map you want then click "Create new gradient" and save it with whatever name you want.
