Take 3 on my Beksinski tribute painting.

Thoughts?

Hello, One-Vox. I think you've done some better pieces in your life.

I... like it?!?

Good job, anon. If this were a little more polished, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a print of it. Can we see Beksinski tributes 1 and 2?

I know, but I'm hoping it's worth finishing

Do you post your art anywhere?

>> No.1463669

The face feels off balanced, and its rather distracting.
Im enjoying the color.
The post sticking up closest to the viewer doesn't feel very grounded.
Im drawn to the right side of the image because of the red line on the ground leading up to the middle, and how the clouds drift into the right. So im getting stuck in that boxed in area under the top right of the T (If you're going for that, whatever, but i thought i would mention it.)

I like it, but yeah, i think youve done better.

If you think you'll seem artsy or deep with this you're kidding yourself. If I didn't know better I'd say whoever did this has some skills but the mindset of a teenager.

And that's probably true anyway

I'm conflicted on these two. One needs a little something more, one needs a little less. The old one was better IMO however.

I wouldn't call the face "bad." I actually think it rounds out the composition nicely. My problem is that it detracts from the inherent creepiness of the image. Your original composition shines in that area. The face need's to be more ethereal and scary looking. Try painting the face as if it were a part of the cloud instead of giving the eyes and lips a solid form. Also consider the fact that we are viewing the face head on. It keeps the piece from being as dynamic as it could be. Experiment with tilting the head a bit to make the composition more dynamic.

I think your image lacks the unlikely combo of subtle humor and unease that his images often contain.

Maybe consider the tribute from the conceptual side of the work, not just the physical.

I knew you were on... nevermind.
I think that your "third" attempt is really good, and I must say that I like it the most, maybe because has a sort of poetical tension in it. That sounds really really pathetic, I know. What I want to say is that that version seems to be deeper in meaning. In few words: the face in the clouds is really a good idea and it's worth to be finished (even if I would keep it, overall, more or less like it is). I would suggest - my personal opinion here - that the face has to be like is really made of clouds; as it is now seems more made of stone. But maybe you had already thought about that.

Why not paint Beksinki's face in the clouds instead of that androgynous nondescript implication of a face? Make him an actual part of your piece, y'know?
