Line art is well intended but looks odd at some points (the hands for example) and composition wise, is pretty static and boring to look at, the coloring isn't that good either... you also made a tangent with that speech balloon at the end and you want to avoid tangents, they are distracting and flatten the illustration. It's a boring page layout with unimaginative coloring and odd looking hands... Think about that.

Admittedly I honestly got a little lost when I first did the sketch for the bottom, I just couldn't figure out how to fix it. I forgot about the boob gravity so noted. I'll definitely be making the lines smooth, I just wanted to have something to show at the time.

Although are the feet ok? That was hard to nail down too and I'm not actually sure if it still needs fixing other than actually redrawing it clean.

Anyways thanks for the notes, I'll probably start it over again soon with the corrections.

The feet are generally fine, which is why I didn't feel the need to draw them. But if you really want to push it from being perfectly suitable into the realm of, say, object of worship for foot fetishists, then you can do a couple more things.

One is to make the foot more elegant. Right now, they seem quite square, evoking the soles of a steady-footed mine worker rather than that of someone who pampers her feet. Push it slightly more towards the pointier shape of the hottest Italian high heels by making the big toe and second toe equal length, or even having the second toe be slightly longer by a nail. The big toe itself can take on a more wedge shape.

The second, and more important change, is that you can make the foot more expressive. They really are quite like hands. You may pose one foot over the other as a sign of apprehension. You may have the toes of one foot outstretched, with the other is gripped, to break the twinning of the feet. You may have the foot torqued and the toes flicking against themselves, itching from nervousness for the impending encounter. There are plenty of directions to explore. Gesture the foot and toes as you would gesture the body and hands.

Ok. Although the feet aren't supposed to be the primarly focus I'll be working on it since I do like drawing them and hands.

I'll try to incorporate as much as I can into the next version. Everything will be really different I think next time I post, but I'm a bit slow so this'll take a while. Also I think I might mess around a little bit more with the hand position. Thanks again.

Work on your line quality. Vary it up a bit; have the line thicker where the shadows lay, where the body is hard, where the weight rests. This also includes line confidence; you shouldn't be using a bunch of small lines to make on big one, just draw the full line from the get-go.

Here is a quick and dirty redline of your pic.

Your problem is that you aren't creating creases where the body pulls at the fabric, and so you're drawing the shadows in the wrong places--the fabric pulled by the body creates the shadows and creases. It happens at angles of the body, like the back arch--not on flat planes like the tummy and (flat) chest like you've drawn them.

Additionally, the skirt of the second girl is drawn at the wrong angle--the viewer would not be able to see up her skirt to this extent unless we were looking up at her from underneath, or if the skirt was purposely shorter in the front. I've shadowed in the way it should look, but I also added lines to show where, if you wanted to draw the skirt from underneath, you should show the significant folds with bolder lines.

this is a bit of a theatre thing, but you should have her left hand grabbing at her hair instead of her right. using the arm closest to us sort of hides away most of her body, restricting the readability of body language. in acting this is called putting your back to the audience, and is typically a pretty big nono

Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to do what I can to work on that flatness and those breasts as best I can .

Though, to be a little clear, those lines in the drawing are not the final lines at all. In fact, I won't even be actually using lines in the end result. Like the colors, the lines are only a placeholder for now, just to get an idea of things and I wouldn't leave them that way for the final piece at all. However, you're completely right in the other regard, I do have a bad habit of restating lines even when I try to make clean lineart and I definitely need to think more and plan things out when drawing. Thanks a lot for the help, bro. I appreciate your time.

It's good overall, but has a few issues. First, the extended leg's position in 3D space isn't quite clear. I would expect to find it just below her center of mass, but something about it's lighting makes it feel like it's coming forward toward the viewer.

The second problem is the treatment of the legs, both in their overall position and their contours. Both legs are very stiff in position, and as such doesn't have quite the same gestural flow that the upper body has. The contours of the legs (especially the bent one) feels too segmented - as if you were trying too hard to emphasize the individual muscles of the leg instead of the simple, gestural statement.

I use sdfg, furry rake, generic wedge, and a small hard round brush for detail. I block in under the sketch layer then afterwards flatten and continue painting. If you dont have tilt enabled on your tablet then use sdfg and hard round because rake brushes are only great with tilt imo. I could link my stream but I dont know if thats allowed here

I don't know why so many people have a hard time believing that foreign manga artists exist.

Its not that japanese people are born with the race passive skill of drawing manga.

If you are serious about it all you need is to learn japanese for a few years and have good art.

But can you leave the comfort of your home country, your friends and all your siblings and go to a country that you barely speak the language to do manga?

Most people are not, and they ether do it as a hobby or the try to get over of there "animu phase" and finde work as artists in there home country.

ShindoL just have a very americanized way in his stories, full of drags and prostitution most of the time, very different than the usual ahegao/mindbrake of japanese artists.

>You need to know how to draw boring proportionally correct poses first before going into perspective, foreshortening and expressing emotions

Then why bother redlining at all? That's no different than telling people to stop drawing figures and practice drawing primitives and perspective. Which I do think is excellent advice, but that has been repeated ad nauseum with little effect in other threads. If that's the level of discourse you want, just hop over to one of those threads.

These corrections show the process, they show gesture and shapes being used. They show the exact fundamental elements you talked about. A simple redline of minute fixes does not do that. That is the very opposite of how you'd want to teach a beginner.

>BUT are all humans really that easy to "gerneralize".
Yeah, there's something called average proportions. You should learn how to draw an average person before you go into strange proportions.
Even if you're a small chick or shorter, your legs are going to be a certain size in relation to the rest of your body and how many heads tall you are. No matter what, there is a ratio that is followed.

Learn the rules before you break/alter them, and all that.

It depends on what you're aiming for. I mean if all you want to draw are short-limbed, plump women then go for it. That doesn't mean you can escape criticism though.

That particular artist's piece eschews precise anatomical accuracy for exaggerated sexiness and eroticism and that comes at a cost. I mean your boner might respond to that girl's subtle curves, plumpness and her shortness but someone else's boner might curl inwards when they perceive her as having T-rex arms and baby legs. It's quite literally different strokes for different folks but here at /ic/ we focus on attention to anatomy and 'correctitude'. You can break the rules some other time.

>> No.1443074

>>1443065
I am not teal but the body is usually created with some basic rules, except if tis deformed from some health problem or something,

so usually if a person has short legs it will also have a short torso. Of cures now people have very variations but they don't have that great of a deference, some cm at most.

What this person wanted to draw was a loli with big breasts but he got overboard with wanted to show meat and the belly that made the torso too huge for a loli, teals correction is following the original torso,

f he made a smaller base torso then he could have smaller legs that would look right.

You draw lines when you draw anything when you practice anatomy, when you are doing gestures, when you are drawing man made objects. Just keep in the back of your head whenever you put a line on a paper that you also want line control and with time you will get better if you don't forget about it. There is a difference between short legs, and out of perspective legs with weakly drawn feet. If the legs are short, then you compensate for that in your measurements. That's doesn't change the fact that bent legs form a triangle with the knee, ankle, and pelvis socket, and that can be used to draw in perspective. 1. Line confidence: you need to draw with at least a semblance of form, try to draw things in one line. Don't worry if you screw up, you can always try again. Also, find "dynamic sketching" on youtube for the good pointers on line quality and drawing in general.

2. An understanding of form: you need to analyze shapes and look at how they're going to turn out, learn to think in 3d and in basic shapes. Of course, all the understanding of shapes won't work without practice, and you won't know what shapes to use unless practice drawing from reference (and that means drawing lots and lots of people). And, this leads to point 3:

3. Use references: From your title and basic shape, I figured out the vocaloid you were doing, and found references which helped with proportions, shapes, and identifying features. Just because you're drawing anime and doing a pose 'from imagination' doesn't mean you should avoid using references. Used in conjunction with construction and an understanding of form/value, you can draw anything.

Here's also a blueline where I try to solve most of the problems, try and stick to clear lines, and try to analyze and understand the form. Again, I'm shit, but I still thing(or hope) that this advice is helpful and makes clear some concepts. Keep drawing.

Not to diss you or anything, but fucking hell, keep it pg-13, or at least keep the more extream fetishes to yourself. Anime has a bad enough rep as it is. The last thing we want is to be associated with dAs inflated diaper furrie artists.
