Honestly I have bad experiences with the "safe" zone as artist. AD companies don't bother with you if you do not have clear experience working prior and you are not someone who is already a friend/relative to somebody. Also I don't have the charisma to pull it off and get into this sphere by personality, and I'm not that creative either for people to choose me over someone who has been in the sphere for many years.

I believe from what I have observed things are getting better for indie-stuff and more outside of the mainstream stuff. The normalfag internet just reached the point where it became so bloated and dry that people got bored.
Sure every person loves free shit, and like a very minimal amount will pay for your pateron, but I think I have better chance on trageting the audience of big commissioners, which will pay for my scribbles. I'm not saying that the porn sphere is the best and every normalfag can suck my dick, but I have learned that the people here are more willing to support you.

I think this video of Sam hyde talking about this sphere pretty much explains what is going on. I know its LOL SAM, but he has pretty good insights when it comes to to creative jobs and the industry overall.

"Render" is a beg trap. First learn to draw and sketch anything and everything even in your sleep. Then get into render color and shade. It's not "hard", it is tedious, it is just "hard work", like getting up early for work everyday. If you have to cel shade, you cel shade, if you have to do gradients you do gradients. Every render style has a simple technique protocol. Like operating a machine at the shop. Read the manual, study the steps and apply, till you learn how to operate it.

The reason why I decided to go for a "cleaner" style is because I intend to color it later, so I tried to don't "overdo" the inks with the woman and add contrast with low values.

1. your shadow placements are really good, for the most part i put mine in the same spot then blended it
2. i think the texture of brush youre using is very nice for the shirt and arm, but looks out of place on the ass, especially the almost grey shadow on the inner thigh. i just used default gpen and then blended it with the blend tool in csp. it might be difficult to do that with a textured brush because it would get lost during blending probably.
3. i think its important to show indications of ass and/or pussy in this position to increase coom factor. im happy with the ass indent, but couldnt figure out how to do the pussy well. i also increased pussy bulge because muh dik

yah idk if its gonna be any help, i dont use anything fancy just a center line to place my features. the rest is just shapes ive experimented with. I still experiment with new shape design and sizes. I just make sure its appropriate for the proportions. I do notice that thick lines help a lot with planning that stuff out. Wish i had more insightful info but its really just experimenting here

Hi, Basically i sketch and do line on 1 layer. Flat color and render on another layer (i still use different layers for different part like hair, outfit, background...).
Occasionally if i'm not so sure about level i'll add a multiply or overlay layer to adjust the shadow, or a hard light layer for highlight, reflect light, ambient light...then merge to the main color layer right after.
