Today i killed a baby bat. It was an accident. I opened up the door to my garage after months and it was sleeping right in the upper crack. It fell head first into the ground and made a loud bat scream, then it started opening and closing their wings while laying still in the ground.
I think i broke their back. It was such a beautiful bat. I left him on the ground and walked away, as i didnt have the time to care for it. The little scream it gave me when it fell breaks my heart. I hope you were able to get up and fly away, buddy, i hope I didn't kill you.

Hard to say at the current process.
But I would suggest that, when drawing complicated poses it's ideal to make sure your gesture looks good and go from there. You can even refine and adjust the gesture till it looks good and kind of clean it up from there.

It's kind of hard for me to say because I guess I don't consider myself very good yet. What I always tell people is don't underestimate studying and understanding anatomy (if you know how and where to place things, it takes a lot of the mental load off). If you're having trouble with symmetry or forms, it's always helpful to know how to divide a shape up, and establishing a center line is always very helpful.
Practice observation, and learn to push past that "shitty sketch" phase. Drawing is iterative, they rarely come out perfect on the first go, unless you're really good. A lot of my shitty sketches take an hour or two because I'm not there yet, and sometimes you just have to be okay with that.

Unrelated anon here, I think the hand is a different ballpark altogether. The hand could might as well be universal, since an intelligent humanoid creature will always use the hands to do regular hand things. Paws might be shaped differently to better perform their intended function (stepping), but hands would tend to be always the same, no matter if it's a human or a furry. Slightly more paw like you can do, but not too paw like, since that will render a hand unusable.

But I think it just comes down to exaggerating the characteristics you like. Study from real life bats and just go from there. I don't think you need to adhere 100% to reality of course; you can simplify a lot of shapes, like I see a lot of people draw bat noses as just diamonds (which I admit I've begun doing a bit as I get lazy).
If you're drawing bat ladies, your knowledge of normal human anatomy is going to push you further than your knowledge of bat anatomy, so make sure you study both. Also I want to see your bat and maybe take him/her on a date.

Honestly can't believe I made someone draw such a good averi like that and I didn't have to peruse /trash/ for it. How did you do the background? What are your secrets for shading, do you use Krita, what brushes do you use? Also, what's your opinion on "never shade with black" stuff I've seen says you're supposed to use Multiply or something and not Normal.

I'll see if I can get back to drawing the Braixen again someday, but having to keep track of multiple boards and threads is a little hard for me, and I'm going to be busy with personal projects for a while so it's probably gonna take a while, though I can guarantee you that if I do return to it, it would take kind of a while. I'm not very good at drawing characters that already exist, when I do, I always end up hating myself for never being able to match up to existing quality, but maybe with enough practice, it is something I can fix.

I've enjoyed spending my time drawing, it gives me something to do. I feel weird being in this board with people who don't even consider themselves to be good yet and yet their art is miles better than mine.

This is what most "burned furs" had argued for when they wrote a letter to the late-founder of said fandom, Mark Melino that sexualization was going on during the 90s but unfortunately if you look up that man and early furry history (time frame: the 1960s), you'll find out he's a sexual deviant who encouraged the behavior that would later go on to characterize furfags as a fandom. I do know about furry history, watched a load of documentaries a long time ago, shame to see that people aren't doing that now. I myself recognize that the fandom has a sexual side to it, but there's a time and a place really, and places for SFW discussion, art posting and the like are basically outnumbered by the amount of slop and trash NSFW furry content, which is sad to see. There's also the problem of minors getting into the mix of it all and the oversexual culture is not doing minors any good. Early Gen Z probably got to experience the best of the internet before it inevitably gets worse, but with my mind, it's weird to think about these things. I typically tend to think of my life experiences as standard or just something that is strangely iterative or not important, completely disregarding the fact that history is a real thing and the culture of Generation Z is going to be a whole lot different than the culture of Gen Y and Gen Alpha. Originally, 4chan kind of started off as millennial culture, but as time goes in, it will inevitably become part of all kinds of culture, perhaps in the future it will become Gen Z culture, then Gen Alpha culture and so on, as it is a public talking ground and not a hidey hole retirement home for millenials and boomers. That idea though is strange to me, because I still get the feeling that zoomers are not welcome here, perhaps that might change within the next 10 years? Ever since COVID happened, it's a bit weird to think about the future at all, honestly, I just believe that I've already experienced the best the world has had to offer and the future is not going to be so eventful, but I couldn't be any more wrong.
