"rendering" in trad with pencils is the most simple and monotonous uncreative shit tou can do, specially if you are just copying other shit, that's why the range of skill is so close between that and hiperrealism because you only need technique that is mechanical learning, and zero creative learning. Is the classic Proko meme and in the end it depends of the end point, if she is not gonna create anything, then is valid, but if she needs to create something from imagination, of course she has nothing to work.

sorry i posted 2 times because i didnt the my comment in the thread.
The image is fine but a your level you need to focus one step at a time, instead on trying to get everything right, think on the little things that could improve the overall looking.
In yout image for example you can work on the general core zone, specially the armpits, and that will improve a lot the general looking of the body, remember the little details, that if you take more or less emphasis, can drastically change the appearance of the body, depending on whether you want it more or less realistic.

That's all you have to know about perspective to spot the mistake you made. Always be aware of where you, the "camera", are in relation to the object.
Take some time to observe your subject before making any marks.

is not an advide, is an answer, anon asked about a particular question and i answer the true, realism in pencils is much more easy to learn than painting because in first place most of the people what used to do is to copy 1:1 a reference, is not an original drawing but a copy in an different medium, if you dont believe that is as simple as trying to do the same, and you will find that getting the correct values in pencil is much easer because you only need to start lighter and then add more black aka pass the pencil again or harder wherever you find that more darkness is necessary.
Another point that, exemplifies, is looking for any video of anyone who does realism or hyperrealism in pencils and look at how they build the image at the beginning before starting to fill with the pens, you will see in most of that 2 ways: one they make a "shape sketch" that is the contour of the image and key points, because is a copy of a reference, or the other is a simple sketch that focus on measures, in most of them the sketches lack dynamism and are quite rough and stiff, except when they start in a painter way of thinking, wich ususally ended look better. The values also looks kind of weird in lots of them because since they are not doing a life drawing or translating a real life, they grayscale a photo and that's why you clearly see a range of people that draw realism with fucked, washed out values, and another that do it much much better generally because they put more contrast when they convert the photo to grayscale, and that's show why actual painters that do real life when they go for realism are much high tier than the rest, because they already understand light theory unlike the rest, that also applies to people that tool the time to learn some basic drawing/painting fundamentals.

Well my first observation is my drawing seems flat, at least to me, so it needs more depth. I also couldn't really draw that, I'm not sure what to call it, dent around the stem.
Now I was drawing the apple on it's side, rather than upright like the "image" apple. I'm not sure how much that would affect it though. But given how the hand project was done at an unusual angle, I think I have trouble drawing objects like that.
Other than that I can't think of anything else.

you can use your shoulder, elbow, and wrist but hold the pencil in a way that won't tempt you to bend your fingers. Since you're older than 4 building finger dexterity isn't an option

the Peter Han pen training (what drawabox is based on) does recommend using only the shoulder and holding the pen vertically as a drill for fighting wobbly hands but it's not how anyone normally draws

i wouldnt call it lighting when rest is vacuum, but it implies form and thats all what matters: its good enough. pro beg tip: make the void different color than the figure color for easy appeal gains: instead of 2 values you will suddenly have 3, that is 50% more for 2 mouse clicks

Despite how pretty Kazakh women are, there's a reason why places like CzechCasting or Czechmassage exist, I mean besides the implied human trafficking networks that 'employ' them; there's something about them, some are VERY well endowed too (see Alena#8605 if you please, is just my type) could be some inherited genetic trait type of thing IDK.

When you study fundies you will unlearn the bad habits so you should do that alongside your copies instead of just copying from drawings.

This took me longer than I would have liked, but I did my first reference turntable. The colouring is pretty shitty and my line work isn't super amazing...the low detail style likely doesn't help. But whatever, I think I got her down pretty accurately for both sides (they line up well enough with some oddities here and there) and I am pretty satisfied with this.

But damn I spent too long on it, a week or so working on her. Guess my brain wasn't used to having to rotate something from the front and then to the side, but it wasn't quite as hard as I expected. The point I was gonna get to is I neglected my other studies to work on this, so I won't be doing any more reference sheets for a while until my skills progress significantly, just took me too long and I would rather sketch figure studies or more fun pictures than characters A/T Posing.

And for the record I have VERY little experience colouring so yeah, that's why it looks so shitty. And I did intentionally have it look messy just to get it done quicker.

I feel I've identified my problem. Rather than doing as Loomis suggests, and using the principles of construction to create my own forms, I've only been poorly copying his drawings (following along with his construction), without coming to a full understanding of the underlying principles. Not only that, but I became impatient and skipped ahead. I imagine this is a common beginner's mistake.
I'm not entirely sure how I should solve this problem. Should I fully eschew the study of existing artwork for a period, drawing purely from imagination while using the construction method? Or should I go all in on studying works that interest me and worry less about the technicalities? I've heard some suggest that the latter is how you should always learn how to draw; I only started going through FWAP because I've historically had better results in learning new skills through reading books.

This will sound really pretentious but you need to look at things with an artist's eyes to draw, that's what keys and drawing on the right side are about. You have to overcome the biases your brain has formed since childhood and draw things as they really are, treat any object you draw as if it's an alien sculpture you've never seen before. >>7123472
You’re not really consistently following the surface of the form with your wrapping lines so try drawing all around as if the forms were transparent. Like on the top of the upper arm on the right you have a bunch of nearly straight lines even though it’s presumably supposed to be cylindrical so don’t rush it. Overall you seem to get the idea of using simplified forms so take your time to really feel the forms and all around them.
