How much would it theorically take for a beginner to reach this exact level of skill and draftmanship? Especially his more detailed B&W pieces full how hatching and detailing and approach to anatomy, volume and perspective. He nails a more traditional hatching style digitally really well and has solid fundamentals to boot.
It's not quite at the level of actual pro manga artists like my actual influences, but it is a good point of comparison in regards to how skillful I want my art to look like before I start tackling comics full time (almost no one in /mmg/ is good enough art-wise).

Also, are there any other people striving for high detail line focused manga-like art styles as well? All I see posted here is cartoonier, simplier or render-based art styles, not much stuff that actually implements complex detailing.

If you want it to look like she's lit by the sun, especially the setting sun, then you need to redo the lighting with that in mind, including the direction the light is coming from. Make the shadows darker, and put them down more thoughtfully.

Also for that dress, I feel like it shouldn't be draped over her leg, that bottom corner would have slid off when she assumed her pose. It should be hanging loose behind her. Unless she draped it over herself by hand after she stuck her leg out. Might be worth redesigning the outfit altogether, if you're really committed to this drawing. Look up cool references, but you don't have to copy them 1:1, just get inspiration.

Something that would bring this to the next level is practicing adding more of a sense of weight. Is she supposed to be balancing on the balls of her feet or in the middle of standing up? She looks more like she’s lying on her side rather than upright since there’s no feeling of weight in the vertical direction. If you try doing the same pose yourself you’ll feel which parts have the most weight on them and can try showing that by adding more squish and stretch in the right places or changing the angles of some parts.

I'm on Day 41 of drawing and I haven't studied perspective but you're getting there I can see it, youre line quality however is lacking (sorry if I'm too hard) but you should try drawing with your shoulder and ghosting your lines.

Also if you wanna learn how to draw boxes from imagination I learned this in Unity, this is what boxes are made up of, notice how they kinda have a distorted "Y" shape? Try doing that and imagine if as the top view, edge, or down view of a box

Recently I've been thinking about the risks of 4chan, and desu Twitter is regarded as a mainstream social media but extremists, bullies, schizos and antisocial people, so theres that too.

2nd bridgman study session. I didn't have as much time as i would have wanted to draw today so that's why there are fewer figures. I also only drew the last pose 4 times so i could get in some drawing from reference and try to apply some shapes. I think they came out alright but i'm probably using too many straight lines without balancing them with some curves which may make my figures a bit stiff. Also i need to take an anatomy refreshed, completely forgot the leg muscles.
In the future i may skip the small more gestural bridgman drawings so i could focus on the ones with more structure. Or i may skip ahead to specific body parts chapters and then skip back to the full bodies.

I set the sketch layer at about 10-20% opacity and use another color like light blue so it's easier to ignore.

I guess you could also use a pixel art brush with no AA so every sketch pixel is the exact same color, preferably one distant from the color range of your lineart brush, and when you're done with the lineart just select every pixel in your sketch with a color selection tool at 0 tolerance and erase that.

I use references for poses. I regularly attempt at drawing them from imagination but they always end up stiff and most of the time I get discouraged before I get it to some semi-finished state
I find drawing poses waaaay more enjoyable when using a good reference photo, and get into the flow much easier
if I'm not doing a study I do a lots of adjustments to proportions and stuff to my liking anyway

by the way does it mean I'm a perma/beg/ if I can only draw using reference?

I spent basically every waking moment during my college years listening to music to escape my errant thoughts/stress and do work so I'm pretty used to it at this point lmao... But I will admit that the type of music you listen to probably affects things as well
I tried my theory out with a short lesson video and got a little distracted by a D12 song but the rest passed by without any incident
It also helps to have it at a really low volume, like mall or supermarket music, not really present unless you pay attention. If words catch your attention too much you can always go for instrumental stuff, etc

They're lacking defined angles. I like to simplify the fingers to just one bend mostly when I'm doing a more anime style, but you tend to have a shard angle on the upper side of the finger and a more pillowy shape on the under side of the finger. Post ref and I could do a redline maybe

what worked for me was
turn opacity down to 90 or 95% and use a slightly textured brush
adjust your pressure curve according to pic related (play around with it, your preferred program probably has something to help you figure it out)
and when you do something that's curved downward, press a little firmer (line weight)

that's given me much more sexy lines

Should I be painting over the reference image to learn how to use a soft brush? Working with a brush that doesn't make straight, hard edges is new to me and keeping the contours of the figures proportionate seems difficult to do.

I copied the reference image with the magenta pencil outlines using a grid and changed the scale of the outlines to fill the canvas.
