More perspective on the chest and breasts. You are making them bigger since you think "big breasts look like this" and are not looking correctly at the picture.

Flip the canvas and the pic to see if you notice things you didn't before. I believe in you. Also stealing that pic to study since it's top tier sexo.

From Paul Murry's story THE LAST RESORT which begins one of his Disney Masters books. Mickey and Goofy are driving out to a location listed in a guide, but Goofy didn't realise that this particular resort listing was dated to 1902.

It's pretty interesting to be reminded that these guys drew large, often on 20x30" sheets of bristol paper, and usually began with a col-erase sketch just like a lot of animators. Carl Barks went on record talking about his working methods and I'm sure Murry was the same way.

Don't know if you're the same anon, but your gestures aren't that bad. I would work on simplifying the shapes and accentuating one or two "ideas" of the figure.

Think about what you're trying to tell or jot down with the gesture you're drawing. Sometimes, it's as simple as "I like the hips, I'll focus on them" or "she's reading a book, I'll accentuate her character". For the latter, is she nerdy? Is she bored? Is she super into the book? Is she just posing the book, looking like a pinup?

All these questions will naturally guide you to the right gesture. And all gesture is, is an idea. You're essentially getting down something quick to build on later on.

Sorry for the long post, hope it helps. Feel free to ask if you have more questions.

There are thousands of refs in ref thread and on ic torrent, why won't you study and draw figures if your goal is to draw figures? Why are you just rushing through yet another book, doing another page of zero effort copies?

NTA but YES, that's what I've been trying to say, Pawell doesn't have to be a permabeg. He has the drive and the ability to improve. But he's sabotaging himself by laser-focusing on grinding low-effort gestures for "mileage," rather than carefully building up his foundations. He needs to diversify his exercises, or he's just gonna keep spinning his wheels. I hate to see it because I KNOW for a FACT that he's capable of so much more.

>> No.7106128

>>7106125
>he's sabotaging himself by laser-focusing on grinding low-effort gestures
Lol, he is not even doing that. He is just copying current book's illustrations. Had he been doing 100s of gestures from figure drawing ref, applying methods he learned, he'd actually improve. He is just doing pointless copies of books and doesn't retain any information said in these books and never applies it. Copy one book -> go to the next -> repeat. That's literally all he is doing.

>> No.7106134

This was my first attempt at digital painting. Kept a lot of things simple: flat colors, no folds on fabric, painted figures over reference image to keep proportions accurate, and color picked from the reference. I also made the brush simple: anti-aliasing and opacity fading around the cursor, and solid color with a circle shape with no texture. I want to modify the brush later so the strokes are visible in the painting.

Bridgman first study. I really suck at trying to reproduce the drawings from memory and I don't even know if it helps with anything but yeah.
I did the 6 times drawing method, ref>then memory, and then i tried applying some of the shapes by drawing the thread pose twice. I guess it's a start for now.
I won't be doing this daily as this is really tiring and i still want to work on my own illustrations but i'll try to keep at it at least 2 or 3 times a week. I'm also thinking of skipping the head chapters since i don't see people talk about that a lot, and i've done loomis and the planes of the faces before.

I've used AI on my own drawings and plan to use it in the future when my skills are up to snuff.
Here are the issues with AI.
1.Legal it may be illegal to make money with existing models in the near future through expanding copyright laws
2.The way to circumvent this is to create you're own model based of your work
3. AI lacks consistency even if trained on a specific character. So things like comics and animation are impossible for a one man operation unless you have the skills to correct the image or it maybe possible to use 3d models with low noise in the model to get the desired animation looking effect.
4. These video models from open ai like sora will never be released to the public and will be used exclusively by large corporations to pump out slop.
5. AI can only realistically be used for concept art for now and the next 10 years in the public market.

hey I'm on day 40 of drawing but Keys to drawing reccomends you start off with the huge shapes first like the sillohette but you wanna make sure you capture the sillouhette, try and see the curves and idenitfy the lines of CSI

CSI means if I remember its the 3 types of lines in every drawing or drawing in general.

Like I said I am a day 40 begineer so i could be wrong

sry for large image
went a little past my hour timer but for the time taken i can't say i'm completely dissatisfied, especially for not having drawn since sometime last year (and never having been good at it in the first place lmao). i definitely have a long way to go
best i can see is that the fist is misshapen/looks kinda off perspective-wise. it might be that the width is off? the face is super fucked up. eyes aren't at the right angles and their shape is off. the face itself is also too long and blocky. kind of looks boyish as well. clothes are hard. hair VERY hard and definitely not helping with the boyish looks. i wasn't really sure what to do about the left (my right) side of the clothes because it's almost all patterns lol, same for the obi. missed the sash shading but oh well. if you read this far and see anything i missed, pls let me know ty
overall, i think that this was probably a bad ref choice partly because it's so stylized and because of all the minutiae in the clothes and hair. not sure what to do for refs because i wanna draw weebshit but know it's not great starter material to copy. hopefully the fundies studies i do over the following week help me out, including regular life drawing. i'm gonna copy manga panels i like once a week to try and see what progress i make, if any
>>7107290
thank you! i've been trying to do my best to do a mindset switch since i realized that if i don't do anything, i won't make any progress- as obvious as it sounds
right now i've got a bit of an embarrassing showing, but i'm hoping that by this time next year i'll be able to brag just a little bit

>> No.7107319

>>7107318
ah, actually, another thing i see is that the chin on mine is jutted forward where the ref has it more in, hence the upward look. not sure how i'd actually convey that by myself but hopefully studying will save me one day lmao

pros
>you feel like a cool hipster because you use an uncommon drawing material
