Its a good time to be a sketchcel, to the contrary. Beyond the colors, you must realize that AI can't draw for shit, because it isn't. Even generating just, say, two characters doing anything besides sex or vaguely loafing around in a complex scene is already astronomical without the use of img2ing, openpose, 3D models etc., which is already way too much effort for the bestest whitest promptard. The ceiling for draftsmanship is so damn high I don't know what to say if you get discouraged by a glorified coloring machine of all things... And not even that's stopped me from trying to paint.

I mention legitimacy because it is a huge under-discussed issue. Some washed-up third-rates with an iota of skill are 'referencing' AI gens and even going as far as to stream it with the hand visible and all to sell the fraud. However its still faux pas to be this paranoid, so we can't just witch-hunt every artist ever and force them to film themselves drawing in a white room. It's good for what it is. Move on to your next thing. I personally would have pushed her body a wittle bit over the fence since she has her hands up top of the fence. It would have given it more gesture and the but would stick out just a little bit more (not as exaggerated as the first picture). Or I would have had her sit on the fence itself and look in the same direction. A lot of possibilities here.

Rather than her pose or where she's looking, I'd say placement/composition is most at fault here. We're clearly being lead down a winding path, so it feels like she's always at my periphery, out of focus. I would move her closer to the center of the image, around the broken fence, which is a focal point. If you do proceed this way, you may need to add additional compositional elements at her old spot to balance things out.

Is 3D modeling easier than drawing? I've been feeling a bit burned out lately, and considering that ancient cultures like the Chinese, Greeks and even African tribes had sculptures with lifelike proportions way before realistic drawing I feel like it would be easier to make some decent progress in areas like anatomy and composition while forgetting about drawing for a bit.

I guess you don't want to post your work in this thread, understandable. Nothing I did while I was still hitting the books is especially noteworthy, so I guess I can just tell you what I did this past year.
1. Pose trainer
>pose trainer x10 @ 30s
Continuous contours only, without lifting your pencil.

Two methods:
'Construct-by-shape' as described in Keys in Drawing.
'Naive' observation drawing, from one line to another growing outwards.

Do a few of these accurate to pose using any method you want. This means the anatomy and proportions must be modified to both correctness and liking, because their model is in fact garbage.

2. Photo croquis
Find some chicks on twitter (preferably clothed) and draw them. Be aware that a lot of the asian ones are in fact men, if that's a hang up for you. The prescription here is two per day, at most an hour combined. Use both of the drawing methods described above.

Keep in mind that I only performed 1&2 sporadically for 2 weeks combined at most. I stopped when I felt enough progress in my personal work.

3. Sketching
Specifically with these limitations: No construction, no guidelines/marks, no overlapping shapes/lines. Basically no underdrawing whatsoever like KJG. Take as long as you want here to create a satisfactory, nearly finished piece, though I found 30 minute challenges to be a fun parlor trick. Honestly, I don't place as much credence in this as I used to. It feels more like a consequence than a cause, and you can easily fall into a doodler comfort zone to make things 'correct'.

Fastforward to now -- I don't even grind anymore, due to time constraints and such. Rather, I see most improvement by incorporating references in the inking stage. I picked up hands and feet this way without any deliberate study, for example. But I don't think it's a waste. Our experiences come around in unexpected ways, and I can probably only do this thanks to my past efforts.
