even if he was only copying the same few anime faces he still drew every day and frankly being able to copy floating anime girl heads is simultaneously the goal, and completely unattainable for most of the "people" on this board. i will praise him for drawing every day and for his coloring skills but i will reserve my comments on the fact that he exclusively draws from pages of pirated manga on his cellphone.

Yes, he has a lot of free time, but that's not it.
He was a constant YouTuber personality for >10 years, he's used to the grind and shitty deadlines, he's used to have a creative job and now that he's semi-retired has a lot of energy.
Normally his son would suck it up, be since he doesn't have to work since he already has the money, he can be a dad.

>He's a millionaire

Those are valid excuses. I can't buy alcohol markers without guilt to try and fuck up, and he doesn't come home mentally devastated from work.

observation > proportion > simplification with simple 3d shapes > basic perspective > anatomy

avoid drawing a human until later, draw apples and other simple things from your house from observation with attention to proportion (read how to draw from observation or watch a video), don't render, once you're confident in your observation and proportion measuring skills move to drawing spheres, cylinders, cubes from reference then from imagination (read on perspective here), render them by separating the shadow from the light first, then adding the bounce light on the shadow and then adding some light variation in the light area, now go back to the fruits and render them with the knowledge you got rendering simple shapes, use the exact same workflow you used for the forms rendering but at the end and only at the end add the details. now draw these fruits from imagination using what you learned drawing simple shapes from imagination. if you're not happy with the drawing in any of the step, fix it if it's from a referenced step or go back to drawing from reference if from imagination.
this will take at most a week if you spend 2 hours

now you move to a referenced sculpted bust or a high quality anime doll head and take your sweet time with it because you'll be dealing with observation, a lot of proportion, a lot of shape simplification, perspective and quite a few anatomy all at once. if you're not happy with it check proportions, it will most likely be a proportion problem at this point, only render if you're completely sure you got the proportions right or else you'll learn some of the shapes of the face related to rendering wrong to make up for the proportion problem. do three more using a bust/doll that has similar facial features then try drawing it from imagination while checking for anything you're not sure about

you can check how other artists solve/put some marks to convey certain shapes without having to render, readbooks tolearnhow toapproachasubjct

Manlets will never have the body of Shaq, even if they trained longer and harder than he has in his entire lifetime.

Most shitty artists don’t understand the concept of potential and how only certain people are gifted with the natural ability they want.
There is only one Nobuteru Yūki, no matter how badly I wish my art looked exactly like his because he was a naturally gifted Asian with Japanese genetics and culture that made his ability possible. At 23 years old I will never be able to achieve that dream. Every artist has their own style and I will never draw in that style. My Asian-American friends all draw kemono characters in a stylistically perfect and soulful way that I wish I could do on a tablet, with pencil and paper.

It’s not fair, but that’s how the world works. East Asia always wins and if AI is enough to piss off the higher race I’ve envied for years, then I’ll personally fund it. They’ve had it too good for too long

Art is a mostly mental activity so you are in no way limited by your outwards appearence or genetics unless you are severely disabled. Of course there are beginners everywhere including asians, so if you use that as an excuse you are not being truthful to yourself.

In your case you are not willing to put in the time and effort to improve any more and that's fine. That's your choice what you do with your time.

I mean, copying is the easiest thing you can do in drawing.

I drew this literally 2 weeks after starting to draw without ever doing it in my entire life before, maybe when I was a kid.

I think where the hard part starts is the body, and drawing body poses from imagination in different perspectives. Even with reference, it's hard to get a pose like you imagine it in your head on paper.

And when the average autist of /ic/ comes here, he feels the NEED to grind through fundies instead of drawing/copying what he likes. It's just 4chan autism to do everything perfectly by the book from the beginning.

Could chalk those up to unsteady hand, common reference/popular style/pintrest etc. but I wouldn't be surprised if he later mentions using AI for ref.
As AI gets better I don't think it's too bad to copy it for learning, but when learning from artwork, it's nicer to find artists you love to copy, you carry their legacy in you, be inspired by them, instead of literally "my style is the algorithm".

Pretty nice, had a similar experience with a buddy of mine who out of the blue decided to start drawing and i couldn't believe how quickly he improved either, so it's not impossible.

I think there's some things to note or maybe draw lessons from for people who haven't improved as quickly or have plateaued.
> the learning curve can be more forgiving in the beginning and gets steeper as you go along.
> Pursue something that you like and practice towards that consistently. Don't get bogged down practicing things that won't help with your immediate goal.
> less the right way is better than more the wrong way. ic is kinda notorious for this, with the idea that you just have to grind it out to git gud. I think like this you get people like pawell >>7039978 who just throw a bunch of shit at the wall hoping something sticks. If your mind isn't engaged while drawing you won't learn anything.
> Have fun. Frame of mind is pretty important, anxiety, despair or negativity can hamper you a lot.
> appreciate your art for what it is, it'll help you keep going. I think in the vid pewdiepie said there where 40 days between drawings he actually liked, for some people it's incredibly difficult to go on despite that.
> Have the courage to try full and finished drawings, don't seek permanent refugee in practice.
> try to figure out your goals / motivations. Initially I only pursued art because it's the only thing I ever got feedback on as something I had a talent for, trying to figure out what you even want at a late stage or trying to improve without knowing that is a recipe for failure.

Nice progress, well the guy has some pretty great pressure on him. Picking up a hobby and going public with it means people are gonna have expectations on his growth pattern.
Like imagine having a few million people focused on you, how do you learn?

art community toxicity is second only to LoL, the pressure comes from barely sentient, permanently online salt monsters who will rip apart anything and everything a person shares, multiplied by millions because it's pewdiepie and not some random slob nobody. in reality the pressure is non-existent to him, but the slavering beasts of art communities around the world think they can exert some pressure to perform on him. they are waiting for him to post something that isn't as good or doesn't track with his perceived velocity of progression so they can mainline some copium over never drawing, case in point the proko kangaroo.

You don't understand, failure is part of the journey.
The fags who fail and stop at their failure are losers.
There is no such a thing as trying to draw and succeeding, you draw, fail, learn from failures and proceed.
What is success? You get the 10000 shit prebeg drawings out of your pen and avoid repeating those failures.
Those who let failure cripple them are their own enemy.
Your attitude towards learning is the problem, failure should never stop you from trying again and if you do give up blame yourself for being a pussy and not your failed drawings, because those are part of your journey.

I think several factors are at play here:

1. He’s has a great low-stress life-style, free from many of the worries the average man has, such as working. Thus he has more energy and can focus better at learning. I experienced the same thing when I quit my job for 9 months, I made huge improvements in my observational drawing skills because I had literally nothing to worry about and all the time in the world.

2. He’s naturally industrious and very motivated

3. Greasing the groove. He drew every day, when you draw the same thing everyday, you get a priming effect in the brain. Because the same information is being rehearsed, your ability to recall becomes faster and more efficient. You’re able to draw upon your short term memory of the previous day and apply it.
It’s like greasing the groove with pull-ups. You do multiple sets of low reps spread across the day everyday for months, and eventually your max reps increase because of neural-learning.

4. He was drawing for fun mostly without any lofty expectations that might frustrate him. You ever notice that when you draw for fun with low expectations, you often counterintuitively produce better results compared to drawing super strict and rigidly?

I hypothesize that many of the /begs/ and intermediates here might actually be cucking themselves with a rigid fundamentals-based approach to everything they do. Maybe we just need loosen up and draw more spontaneously for fun like pewds, not caring about fundies as much. + greasing the groove a little everyday or 4-5 days a week. Maybe that’s the secret.
