everything i've made while drunk or high has been dogshit and i threw it away. There's really no point.

Top left was one of my first real attempts drawing while high. A lot of my drawings after that were done high, but I think I tried to draw sober after a while, idr. The top right drawing was made the last time i smoked, and I was on the verge of passing out (Low blood pressure issues, especially if i was dehydrated, second major reason I stopped smoking besides getting really retarded because I smoked every day), I thought it was the worst thing i ever made and I felt awful.

ill dump some from when i first tried shrooms

only smoke socially now its better for my life

I think drugs may have some use in lateral thinking and discovering new subject matter and topics you might not have drawn otherwise, but I don't think it's worth it to bother unless you've got strong fundamentals that are pretty much instinct and muscle memory with a broad visual library. Otherwise it's just gonna be garbage doodles.

Drugs arw a tool for introspection if you're stuck jn a rut.
What people forget is that hard work is needed paired with drug use to get any benefit from it, and drug use itself is ego disolving and cintrary to hard work unless it's speed.

Drugs help you think about things you already deal with or think about but don't have the time/effort/mindset to consider. It doesn't give you 'new' ideas. You don't create new subject matter from doing drugs, you might realize something, but nothing new is made.

When I used to smoke weed back in high school, I loved drawing. Drew really surreal stuff because I guess that's where my mind was.
I cant do hallucinogens anymore since my panic attacks.
Now I just drink, but not when I draw.
My skills turn to dogcrap after just 2 drinks.
Same with cocaine.

Actually, I take that back, I haven't drawn on cocaine, cause who tf wants to spend $50 a gram and grind alone on your tablet or sketchbook?

I don't smoke weed anymore since I'm comfortable with my art right now, and I don't want to change styles.

Kinda funny because I’ve had some pretty good ideas on drunk night. I got one of the best world building ideas for my comic while watching Coraline alone with my friend Tsingtao.

Not gonna vouch for drug use. I truly hate creatives when they explain their craziest art pieces as being drug fueled. I know why too. I used to draw crazy shit in my early years up to my mid 20s and people used to ask me jokingly “what drugs were you doing when you did this one lmao”. Really pissed me off every time. I’m a sober schizophrenic thank you.
Never touched a drug but I do drink now and I fully admit I got some good ideas drawing while drunk. I think it mixes up your brain chemistry so that you start to connect ideas that you might not have thought to normally.
(Granted I think I might unironically be mildly schizophrenic already lol)

Oldie from 3 or so years ago, LSD.

I wish it was more legible, I still think the base ideas are really fun. It's some sort of living colony where new creatures sustain themselves inside the corpse of a colossus. I really like concepts like these but rarely veer into that sorta territory in my day-to-day art.

Can you even get addicted on most drugs that creatives use, outside of weed or cocaine? Who the fuck gets addicted to psychedelics? It's so interesting but intense that it takes me several months or years till I get the desire to even do a one-day trip again.

I smoke a lot of pot but I try to avoid it when doing structural shapes because everything ends up messy.

i could elaborate but dxm in general gives me a very ambient feel, like the emptiness of zen and i find myself engrossed in just making marks.

weed is just, well i find it makes me draw but only with music and its more fun but i would not recommend unless you are crazy depressed and just not drawing at all, which i get sometimes, and it takes the mental block away to remind you lifes fun and maybe you take drawing too seriously.

lsd is hit or miss, not a fan personally from the few times ive done it. some people love it though.


no drugs wont make you better or unlock anything you werent already going to do, in fact they can be detrimental. also you start to wonder if its the drugs youre enjoying or art and it kind a confuddles things
