Remember:
before criticising any of my work I post, I will require this information about you
1. your full name - name and surname
2. the address of your current residence
3. the address of your workplace
4. your marital status and the name of your spouse, if any
5. your annual wage, before and after tax
6. your license plate
7. your place of birth
8. the names of your parents
9. your credit card number and the expiration date
and finally you MUST post your work.
If but one of these points is not met, or, if I am unable to find a Wikipedia page about you, that matches the information you have given, that lists you as a prominent artist in any artistic field, all your critique directed towards me or my work is invalid and actually the opposite of what you say is true and my work is perfect and devoid of any mistakes.
Also, when you do criticise my work, you can not use any word included in the following list because your post will automatically get filtered by my automatic filtering system. You must treat me like a toddler when you criticise my work or I will cry.

What's the biggest difference?

I am buying a tablet that has no screen on it, I got both Krita (for specifically the tablet) and Paint.NET (which I used before). I know there's pressure sensitivity but I can't really practice that without a tablet I guess.

I assume a pretty big difference is that you look at the screen while you draw with the hand?

Firstly, you should keep your lines and color separate. Color on a layer beneath the lines. Secondly, aliasing can be a stylistic decision. Sometimes I draw without anti-aliasing because I want to. If you color beneath lines instead of on them, then your problem will be solved, so you can just do whichever you want.

I start with something like the drawing on the right, keeping in mind what's on the left... first I ask myself what angles the upper body (ribcage) and pelvis are at, and then I often start by drawing the upper body, but it can depend. for the arms I often start with just one or two lines, for general placement, then I draw above and erase. In more dynamic poses than those already posted, I'd start with a loose gesture for the whole body... btw I'm a confused beginner who's come out of a year of studying anatomy in the worst way, so now I'm experimenting with simpler and more direct methods as you can see lol, I don't have much experience
20 min by pose more or less

If you're not practicing good habits, you're practicing bad habits. Pawell, you gotta slow down, fix mistakes as they come up, and get it right (at least to the best of your ability) before moving on. Just rushing through for mileage is just going to reinforce those bad habits.

Tried to emulate (more or less) some more subtle anime style figures in pixel art that I have seen recently. I tried going much more subtle with the shading than I normally do. I think the anatomy of her left arm came out a bit strange.

It's a good start, it just need more definition.
Here's a 48x48 portrait from a game. That's far fewer pixels than in your example, yet the character's details are able to be seen much more clearly and she's a lot more defined.
The lower resolution you go, the more that contrast and value matter, because you have to impart as much detail as possible with as little space as possible. It requires a different working mindset.

I think the main issue is that you have the shoulders and head drawn at a different scale compared to the lower half of the image. It kinda looks like you unconsciously separated the image into two halves and worked on them separately, resulting in half of your drawing being disjointed. Rather than separating the torso between the breast and the abdomen, try identifying how the ribcage would fit on your subject and imagining the bottom portion where she would be able to fold her body into it. Of course, the front of the ribcage is shorter than the back, but the bottom front of the ribcage is also the part of the body where you first see body folds. How accurately you place your subject's limbs in a 3D space is largely dependent on how well you can imagine the torso twisting and maneuvering around the body, since they both can't occupy the same space. Also her hands are uneven (one's too large and connected weirdly to her wrist).

TL;DR the main issue is how you're imagining the torso.

How you grip your stylus doesn't really change a whole lot since drawing on a tablet's different from drawing on paper. I'd familiarize myself with my drawing program of choice and know how to blend colors and manipulate layers and shit, at the very least.

Admittedly I am quite proud of how this one came out, even if it clearly isn't that great. The main reason is I was able to get more of a handle on the perspective, as previously I had this major issue with having my perspectives being unintentionally warped, so it was really rewarding to finally get one that feels more right.

I struggled with the fingers as I still don't know how to really draw them well unfortunately. Legs I had to redo a tad to make them look more correct considering the unusual style.

Regarding the style...she's from a cancelled animated pitch pilot. I merely used the style as reference hence why her limbs look kinda elongated and such.
https://lilch.ca/hood (You can find her on this page)

My general anatomy experience is still not terribly great but I am telling you, four months ago this drawing would have been impossible for me to draw.

Regardless, critique away.

Here’s a rough example.
The primitive forms are the basic building blocks that you use to construct everything else out of. Basically boxes, balls, and tubes. Draw them a lot and in every which way to be able to draw them in every orientation. I.e. rotate boxes. Organic forms are squishy blobs that you give volume to by using wrapping lines as if they were rubber bands stretched around the volume, or racing stripes painted along the surface, or trails made by ants as they crawl along the surface of the volume. Basically a 3d wireframe. Dynamic Sketching is a course of study taught by various dudes, most notably Peter Han. DrawABox is a free and autistic version of this that’s good for complete begs, at least up until lesson 3 or 4.
>>7023513
In his book Vilppu Drawing Manual, or the courses thread here will have his Renaissance Figure Drawing course. You can find examples and demos of him doing gestures on YouTube, but idk if you can find a full breakdown of his teachings. Oh, I think I understand now. I don’t think you need to do that and I don’t think it’ll be very helpful anyway. Doing such rigid measuring and rotating the measurements to position the arm will only really be helpful if you’re doing an Egyptian-style flat symbol figure with literally zero foreshortening. You should have an idea of the general proportions and make sure the elbow would be about at the end of the rib cage and the wrist would be about at the pubic bone if you imagined the figure straightening their arm down their side, (or if the forearm plus fist is as long as shoulder to elbow) but even that kinda goes out the window when the torso is foreshortened. So measurements are good to know, and they’re useful, but they’re there to serve the drawing and not the other way around. For somewhat idealized but still realistic proportions, it’s usually enough to just have it so the legs from pubis to heel look like they’d be about about the same length as the torso plus head (or slightly longer.) But you ultimately want to train your eye and get a feel for decent proportions without having to do a ton of measuring. And never start a pose out by measuring, unless you’re just generally putting “top of head here, bottom of feet here, halfway about here” type marks. You want to start with the gesture, always. Then adjust to make sure it’s proportional.

Depends a bit on how you use your stylus. If you hover your hand above the tablet the whole time you don't need one. But if you prefer to draw with your palm resting on the tablet you can slide across the tablet very smoothly if you wear a glove.

I didn't upload them in the same order I drew them. The portrait drawing of palutena is the first one I did when I started off, which is the drawing that's done better than the rest (it's also the only one that got over 100 likes on twitter). The rest is mostly just /beg/ and /int/ quality

Alright, so just to be straight and reassure you, it shows you've been pushing yourself and I do think you're getting better. The Draenei and bikini girls are a lot better.
The reason the Palu portrait (took off is really just because it's 1) a popular character and 2) a very straightforward thumbnail. You could do this for any popular character and get a similar result really. Same goes for that Peach one.

I also want to convey that on DA people can be content with not much and if you start to depend on the approval of people there it will stunt your growth. Try branching to other platforms and try looking at better artists. I think you have good potential so put some faith in yourself.

>> No.7025125

>a very straightforward thumbnail
this is always why I figured it did better than the others, just cause a portrait drawing is easier to do well than a complicated body pose. Nice to finally get some confirmation on it I guess

>Try branching to other platforms
I post on pixiv and twitter as well. the only real difference is that I post more coom on those but they're around the same quality as the rest. The coom does a lot better with how many likes it gets but I think it's only cause it's coom
