When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction
to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help.

I sentence you to drawing boxes and cylinders in perspective.

Once you understand how to draw them, it's shocking how easily you can simplify the body into managable shapes. You have a good understanding of proportions, so once you master the shapes your art will improve drastically.

I tried to show how you could simplify your character into basic shapes. Good work anon I believe in you

>>7015634
Outside of what >>7015948 said - which was solid advice - start focusing on adding more detail to your sketch/drawing before actually painting it. All of the details are really undefined, such as the cloak on the upper body (i dont understand how it works, is it look a hoody thats been cut? a Poncho? Is there trim on it? Does it lace up at the neck, or button maybe?), add details to the belt, the shirt, the pants. If you're unsure about it, iterate on the sketch like pic related until you have a design idea you like. Realistically, id go into more detail for a character i wanna draw. just for posterity sake im posting this. I think it will go a long way.

If you're unsure about any parts of a pose, set a timer on your phone and take a pic of yourself doing it.

Finally - learn better colour theory and stop airbrushing everything

Anon, this is good work! To improve, next time closely stick to your reference: the apple shows symbol drawing, like the cast shadow for example. And choose good reference, the strawberry drawing does not correspond to the reference.

Unfortunately, you just have to push through it.

Given Pawell's output, he's only drawing 30 minutes a day.

with 30 minutes a day, it'll take you 10 years before you become anywhere near decent.

Push towards 2 hours a day at least, if not 3. The more, the better.

In a single study session, I'll produces pages and pages of drawings, not jus the single page that Pawell posts

Some quicksketch/gestures. Amorphous, doughy chink women are ridiculously hard to draw. It seems like it’s mostly Asian refs that display such accursed formlessness. I wonder if it’s the lighting they use or something.

Btw, anyone got any good hyper angle refs? Ideally nude photos of shredded models with strong dramatic lighting, but… I’ll take anything. Seems especially hard to find refs of this stuff

>>7017190
I recommend Betty Edwards or Proko or Eviston’s beg course to learn to see accurately. This is not bad for a beginner, good job
>>7017064
Well, you need more practice just like all of us. For example the central figure’s proportions are a bit weird and the build isn’t very feminine. But using different colors and opacities to keep overlapping figures organized is a great idea. I’mma remember that if I ever get ambitious enough to attempt something so audacious. Respect, anon. You inspire me.

Betty Edwards and then Proko’s beg course. Also the first few lessons of DrawABox will give you a good foundation in construction, which is 3d modeling on a 2d surface. But do Betty’s book first. That will teach you to draw what you actually see and not what you think you see

Basically, your goal is to brain wash yourself so you keep practicing even when your motivation hits negative, which it is guaranteed to do multiple times before you ever git gud.

On the fundamentals grind; been on it for while and seeing some growth slowly but surely, but you can always improve the approach.

Do people find it better to scrutinize their practice in the process of practicing, or do people find it better to just practice--places the lines, don't sweat the details--and scrutinize at a later time and make corrections?

An example would be: should I practice rotating boxes and cylinders without getting bogged down in erasing and replacing lines to make the result "perfect," or should I just try to streamline the process, assess the results, and re-attempt?

Use proportions

Google some online resources

Put the properly proportioned image to the side and try to draw the lines of it as best you can

It'll suck ass at first but you can't get better if you don't try it

One simple to find measurement covers everything including arms, works on kids/animu just as well as adults because the torso+head the stays same relative to limbs.
Cubits are king.

good ways to get down 3 point perspective? been drawing a bunch of cubes which has been pretty cool. should I just force myself to try and get down basic human bodies in 3point? since characters in perspective is my goal

>> No.7018481

>>7018477
If you're happy with your cubes, use them to represent parts of the body. I strongly recommend the first few videos of the Marshall Vandruff Bridgman course for that.
It's Marshall so they're wordy and overlong, but it's good shit. Get to when he talks about the three masses and grind that shit first

Try draw two rectangles in perspective. And shape them in to eyebrow shape. Just remember, depending on the angle part of the eyebrow will disappear as it wraps around the side of the face/head

Would absolutely love it if someone found the horizon line for this picture because I’ve been trying but just haven’t been successful. I think it’s at the very top but it causes so much distortion when I try to do it from there . If anyone could map out where the station point is as well I’d love that.

anime is several genres. What specific style do you want to emulate? I would say the key thing you want to focus on is proportions of the face, where the eyes fall, how large they are, where the nose is. What I wish I had learned first when I started drawings was paying attention to these things.

Try grabbing stuff from your favourite series and breaking down the proportions to figure out how they do it. Spend time actively think about this while you draw.
