If you are a /int/ermediate or /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

>READ THE STICKY:

>TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction
to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help.
When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

Remember:
before criticising any of my work I post, I will require this information about you
1. your full name - name and surname
2. the address of your current residence
3. the address of your workplace
4. your marital status and the name of your spouse, if any
5. your annual wage, before and after tax
6. your license plate
7. your place of birth
8. the names of your parents
9. your credit card number and the expiration date
and finally you MUST post your work.
If but one of these points is not met, or, if I am unable to find a Wikipedia page about you, that matches the information you have given, that lists you as a prominent artist in any artistic field, all your critique directed towards me or my work is invalid and actually the opposite of what you say is true and my work is perfect and devoid of any mistakes.
Also, when you do criticise my work, you can not use any word included in the following list because your post will automatically get filtered by my automatic filtering system. You must treat me like a toddler when you criticise my work or I will cry.

Let's keep it nice and civil in here, folks.

3x 10 Minute portrait practice during work on cheap printer paper, what am I doing wrong portrait bros?

I know the theory behind Loomis but top down or bottom up perspective fucks with my little /beg/-brain. Any tips on that besides practice?

The guy is supposed to be Mads Mikkelsen, the lady is supposed to be Anna Wong from two different shoots.

What are some good head drawing courses? I already read and watched Loomis, Proko, Vilppu, Hampton, but it's all just theory. Brent Eviston courses from /ic/ torrent are good, because they focus on practice, is there something like this, but for head drawings?
I don't have anything against Just Drawing hundred heads, but I'd really prefer a video course, where everything is explained for retards (me), examples are shown and homework is explicitly given.

How should I grind "lines" and proportions at home? Been going to figure drawing every week but I was sick for two weeks and barely drew.

Should I just draw a 100 figures in random poses in my sketchbook (from ref)? I would try a bit more solid shading, maybe a cel style? Or something along those lines. I don't think the scratchy lines are working right now. Also everything is kind of close in value, maybe darken the hair and clothes to give it more contrast? Hope that helps

I eyeballed the perspective in this and couldn't get the plates to look correct no matter how much I redrew them.

At the end I just used the transform tool until it "felt right", but I don't know what I did and why it's better.

I'll post more stuff next for comparison purposes.

1 was my initial attempt, eyeballing.
2 and 3 were two redrawn attempts, 4 is the grid in its final, most accurate version (which allowed me to draw 3).

But at the end >>6983608 this is just random transforming until it looks alright.

>>6983481
Thanks, fren. The basis of my gesture drawing is mainly Vilppu and Hampton. Any “flowiness” might from paying more attention to rhythm through the limbs, trying to listen to what neco senpai was talking about in the threads a few weeks back. He said that my feet looked bolted on and the limbs weren’t very rhythmically in line with the rest of the figure. I’m still trying to work on that.

For complex stuff like this, I’d plot out the perspective grid. At least until you’ve got it internalized like KJG. I’m probably retarded but I like 1 better. I think because in 3 you have the arm of the girl on the left overlapping too much of the end of the table. It makes it hard to read their position. It took a lot of staring to realize they were on opposite sides of a table. Version 1 is easier to read because the end of the table is more clearly visible. I think her body language is better in 3, if she’s meant to be defensive of the food, wolfing it down and kinda trying to shield it from the other girl. Pretty good foreshortening, but the girl on the right’s shoulder is disconnected from her torso. Or maybe you have her neck too far over to the side, as if rather than bending her neck, you just slid it over
>>6983612

The purpose of eyeballing it was to practice those muscles, but yeah, it's a long road.
Neck I hadn't realized, now I see it.

That's not my art. That's a character sheet from a TV show called The Owl House that one of the show's artists made of a voiceless background character, that I'm trying to wrangle into a fanfic AU/swap/something cartoon coalescing all my ideas I had while the show was airing. The girl's one of the love interests I want to explore so I have to get better at drawing her, no one reads fanfics. No one reads. I don't fucking read.

This is what I drew today. This is what set me off, I tried drawing the head and did the jaw too wide, and then I tried drawing the front bang, couldn't do that, got angry, crumpled it up and tried to make a post on /ic/ of what to do to fix it next time. Then I deleted that and tried to make a post on what references to look up. Then I deleted that to get back to the bigger issue of why I can't sit down and power through the sticky for more than ten minutes. Then I deleted that, stabbed a gatorade bottle, put the knife to my throat and screamed at myself to just fucking do it, do something, and then I just threw it across the room and creid, and then I made that big post of cant's.

I've tried adderall and I ended up drawing nothing ever and hating life more, I tried therapy and it went in circles. I want to make art, to give my life a purpose. I feel like getting these ideas out of my head and onto paper is the only way I can feel happy with what I'm doing and, I just, it doesn't come out right. And I fucking hate that. I know I'm not going to be good for a long time, but I want to at least feel confident enoguh to come up with a hair idea. But like, look at that shit, the headgear's damn near flat with her skull, and those pony tail in the back and the bang up front give a hint, but I don't know where the fuck to go with it. and It paralyses me, and I build tension, draw a right angle and it's WRONG WRONG WRONG so I try again and that's WRONG WRONG YOU ARE WRON YOU DREW IT WRONG and then I crumpled it up and here we are.

Pic related's something else I drew of stuff like that so you can see why this is frustrating me. Sometimes the mind's eye gets dropped to paper easily, and the weird sun shadow creature that manipulates the flames below him into little body forms looks great, sort of, the bell thing up top fucked up, but that was at the end of the art so I didn't freak out.

It's easier to draw when I haven't made what I percieve as a mistake, but if the mistake is right at the start I can't complete the work. I wish I couldn't just feel so sick to my stomach about art mistakes, stepping away from the drawing and typing it after the fact it's like 'yeah no shit you're just starting' but in the moment none of that's running in my head, it's runing YOU FUCKED UP, YOU FUCKED IT UP AND IT'S RUINED JUST STOP IT YOU ARE WASTING TIME

>nothing but fish, chicken, and the occasional steak
Ah, no wonder you felt like shit, anon. I actually can’t believe you made it a couple months on just that. First of all, eating such lean stuff will give you rabbit starvation. Eat fatty cuts of beef like brisket or chuck, or if that’s too expensive, buy the cheapest and fattiest ground beef you can. Maybe add butter and (pastured) eggs if you want. Done correctly, a carnivore diet is basically an animal-based ketogenic diet. You want at bare minimum 65% of your calories coming from fat, because when you stop eating carbs, you have to replace them with fat because you can’t use protein efficiently for fuel.

The other huge issue is monogastric animals like chicken and pork are hugely influenced by their diet. We feed our livestock grains and fill them with PUFAs. Pork and chicken especially end up with highly unsaturated fat. Ditto for farmed fish. Unless they’re heritage breeds that have been pasture raised, I don’t eat them. That shit’s expensive not as good as beef or lamb, so I don’t bother with it. Ruminants don’t have this problem because of how they metabolize their food. That’s why you can eat cheap grain fed beef and be just fine. Dr. Anthony Chaffee or Dr. Ken Berry are a great jumping off point for how to get started doing carnivore. Kelly Hogan is good too. Later on, you can slowly experiment with adding stuff back into your diet along the lines of what Bill Schindler talks about, but I haven’t bothered to.

t. put treatment-resistant suicidal depression into remission for going on five years

TLDR: eat fatty beef, drink water, never give up on yourself

The style is simple. If you're drawing from the real world good, but it's a cartoon at the end of the day. The hair won't make perfect logical sense. You have to make trade offs over what would be actually correct and what looks good.

Just keep drawing and make bad art until one day you can make good art.

It’s pretty good actually problem is you have the arm raised a bit so you should be able to see some of that armpit and it’s a contrived bundle of muscles meeting at a point with the teres major peeking from behind as a lil triangle behind the bigger yet still smol rectangle that is the armpit which is surrounded by the bigger masses of the breasts and the biceps which is dropping down.
Overall you have a nice pose going, you may wanna keep it as it is and unless the coomer is fapping to dam or really high level fakku hentai, then you are good.
Your style looks quite similar to legoman’s stuff, so you may sell it as it is and it would still hold some pretty good appeal.

Using basic shapes on wrong way. Looks like you just draw couple cubes, circles and then line that without any basic form and/or line of action.
I can see that before you starting to draw you think about a robot and small details of him(eye's, mouth, bomb on the chest ect), think more about the silhouette when people would look at that they will see whole body, pose, emotion of gesture(like if the character was whole black) and only after that think on things that inside.

I have a 7B lying around and draw with that but maybe something else would be good

her huge tits flopping out looks ridiculous
stiff, boring pose
the foreshortened arm looks weird, other one is clearly an after thought.
'forced' extreme angle for no reason
dull expression
looks like some meaningless anime slop that AI would spit out.
only decent thing is the rendering.

Pawell might be grinding his wheels stuck in mud rn but if he fovused on simple straight lines, curves, ovoids, cylinders and boxes for a month.
His art would take him to high beg or int
The way he constructed that bridge is kino

When he draws what he wants instead of the fundie shit, it looks better. He's shit at painting doe
Maybe he's past the threshold where fundies can be very useful and he needs to draw on his own or do master studies

>past the treshold
If you can't draw identical simple shapes at size or will, draw a straight line or a curve unilaterally both directions any length across the paper and have a good sense of forshortening boxes you are not past the most basic stuff and your skill levels are pretty much softcapped by this.
Think about it
Human body can be broken down into basic shapes, ovoid for head, ovoid for torso, boxy ovoid for hips, tapering cylinders for legs, even eyes and brows are simple curved lines.
If we go by Vilppu, the viewer sees the lines you drew.
Difference between a beg and an int is
- quality of line
- quality of simple drawn shapes
-accumulation of knowledge about perspective, anatomy, composition
These can all be learned by reading but drawing simple shapes in perspective

Pawell is missing the discernment to self-correct. You don't go through 10+ books and still draw like that if you're not fixing mistakes in your process.

It's as if he does a copy, looks back at the reference and sees his mistakes, but then either can't comprehend what to change to get a better drawing next time, or is completely apathetic to arriving at something tasteful and moves on. It's bewildering to see someone who is programming-inclined, which requires problem solving, going through books seemingly thoughtlessly and with pure rote copying and from-memory attempts like it will solve anything.

NGMI, anon. You will fail for weeks and months and only then you'll be "kinda ok-ish". You ARE willing to push through months of grind, right?
Btw try drawing heads from references first and apply construction to them, rather then just going from imagination with 0 experience.

My pixiv account is still up but I intentionally locked myself out of it to keep it as an archive. if youre on discord I come and go from that platform for irl reasons. It has more to do with not wanting any of my private convos being out there.

Anyway I now post my content on relevant serves giantess stuff is posted under "introductions", if you're from lm's server its under "art help-discussion", the crate its on completed works, I don't use the violet server anymore however because. The rest are on /d/ venus, giantess, and aco. Idk also its kinda of my thing to make junk then randomly post it places, its more fun for me than twitter or something because the interactions are more personal

And then, I will be finally ready to make one (1) 5 minute sketch of an anime girl in 3/4 view with blank face in a white void
