What helped you learn to take things in 3D?

I’m a beginner artist and I’m looking for advice.

Start with some simple shapes. Spheres, cubes, etc. Try to draw their contour lines. Thinking in 3d is a skill you can practice, so try doing it while drawing. Try to draw from life sometimes, since it trains you to translate 3d objects to paper. What might also help is learning some basic 2 point perspective. It's good you're trying to learn to think in 3d, once an artist learns that, it really takes things to another level

Move beyond using only spheres and boxes for construction. Use complex shapes. Use made up shapes. Use shapes that wouldn't actually work in a 3D space. So long as it gets you to the goal of a better form.
