How would you personally fix the bland and hollow art styles of the vast majority of current day anime/manga?

We might as well post some good examples of exceptional manga art.

ban digital art. clip paint and its 3d tracing consequences have been a disaster for manga and art. the biggest issue is people dont even know thats the cause. most popular anime right now is frieren and its completely traced 3d models and clip art backgrounds. people dont even sit on the same perspective. its painful to look at. jujutsu is another popular one. traced 3d models, but they henscratch the art so people think its drawn but just shit. chainsawman is same style. you can see when 3d models are used and blatant, but people dont even know or realize thats why its so shit looking. oh great! has traced since ten-ten days with early computer stuff. air gear, etc. the bakumonogatari is so baltant, bu tpeople think its the best art ever despite 100% traced and 3d manipulated. prison school guy uses blender for shadows and imports the 3d model to trace over. theres an infographic from magazine or something of his process and commentary and its hilarious as he explains tracing as art. people think he "draws the hottest women" and is top tier art.

i dont mind the use of 3d tracing, but people pretending its good or actual art is where the issue arises.

Nonsense take. I'd rather animators spend the energy being more creative with camera angles/movements and character animation, as a result of using 3D models for the backgrounds, than the more static shots we use to get

Look at the latest JJK episodes and that level of dynamism would be significantly harder or not possible (given the time/budget constraints) without 3D backgrounds

what does that have to do with drawings in manga you fucking moron. go watch your AI made backgrounds and half janky animation if you like it. that has nothing to do with what was written or the shitty art in comics.

Digital when simply used as a replacement for paper/inks/screentone is perfectly fine. Just compare any of the digital work KJG made and you can easily tell the difference of using tools to your advantage versus relying on them as a crutch.

The problem is creative inbreeding. Artists aren't drinking from the well spring of life (reality) anymore, they're drinking from the parts other artists distilled and there's no nutrients left. If they are learning from reality, they're learning from reality as seen through a screen, curated by algorithms and showing only the sensibilities of photographers.

Old school mangaka weren't exposed to as many of their peers, either. Without easy use of the internet, they had to use their eyes and imaginations more and had a healthier diet of reality + personal imagination relatively freer from influences competing for their attention. Less distraction via screens and digital stimulus also meant deeper processing of the sense data that was available, since they allowed their minds to rest and digest and meditate on where they were. Fewer streams of information meant more thorough assimilation of what was available in their local environments, meaning they developed more unique and identifiable stylistic fingerprints that didn't represent "the global sludge of the internet" but the personal places and people they saw in their individual lives (lives that were far richer, physical, and varied than any image on any 2 dimensional screen can be.)

Solution: expand your meme pool. Go outside and draw from life. Be less lazy, be bold, form your own damn tastes and stop regurgitating mechanical impressions of everyone else's. Touch grass then smoke grass then fuck grass.

What are some manga that uses traced 3D models? I thought mangaka drew it by hand with help from assistants, didn’t know some used 3D to trace. On the upside they don’t have to work as hard, and won’t die early

i want you to look at the proportiosn of hands, arms, legs, thigh to calf, etc. compare it to head size and general proportions. look at the size of the hands of guy under the lion. actually look at the art you are consuming and praising. also, the lion wasnt drawn.

>> No.6932557

The drawing style is not a problem, the problem is the script. With such a voracious industry, mangakas create crazy premises and first arcs good enough to generate interest and publish your work. The problem is that the more the story progresses, it is no longer enough, they only survive with the fans of the first volumes but the manga no longer attracts a new audience.
Have you noticed that scripts are becoming more and more childish? Less complex or less human themes? It's really fun to read 300 mangas about a girl with an inability to not communicate?

Also, great taste anon, freakin' love Yukito Kishiro's art and storytelling, every time I see it I get inspired to try harder to improve
