Why would doing a shit drawing with any method prove or disprove its validity? All it proves is your own incompetence.

This isn't working, I think this method is just not for me. The use of ebonics and incorrect spelling was just me raging at my lack of talent and skill. Sorry.

I'm not disproving anything, I just feel bad because I stopped drawing when I was 15 years old and I'm currently a loser without a real hobby. I think I should try a different method, I'm a midwit/retard

Yes, you should try a different method. Personally I always recommend starting with starting with cartoons rather than a realistic figure drawing book if you're a total beginner. Try Preston Blair's Cartoon Animation.
Once you're a little more competent at drawing as a whole, you can decide more confidently if loomis is for you or not.
There are plenty of other valid methods for drawing, not just loomis, so ignore >>6929904.

To be fair, I don't think there's been an artistic method not made by a white person.
When a black man makes a drawing method and the base models are black people, I don't think anyone would complain.

Do you feel like you can draw a loomis head as easily as you can do a stick figure? Or is it just as hard as the beginning requiring all the effort?

It's easier than it was at the beginning, and I'd say the ratio of passable heads to dogshit looking heads that I draw has definitely improved. But I figure Loomis has drawn tens of thousands, I'm almost up to my first thousand, so there's still a long way to go before I get super familiar with it. I was tempted to give up around the 400 mark, but I kept on.

Thanks for the comments. I thought your lower left loomis campbell head looks super good. Glad you continued past 400. Also I didn't realize you were the same guy as the pic you just posted, that's really cool man. What have you worked through so far? The 2 bridgman and now loomis head and hands book?

oh and I for sure could not draw heads from imagination beforehand so I've made big gainz in that regard
>>6931184
Thanks! I am, too. I like to set big grindan goals for myself and hit them (probably comes from playing OSRS lol) but sometimes it's to my detriment - I feel like every so often I'd be better served just by drawing what I like or drawing from life for a few weeks here or there. But it keeps me regular, grinding, and motivated so whatever
>>6931185
Yeah, I did some Betty Edwards stuff a long time ago, before I got serious about improoooving. I did some Norling and the first two lessons of DAB (actually I did more but I wouldn't recommend going past Lesson 2 desu that's where it deviates from ScoRo/Han and starts to be pretty bullshit) and then did Hampton gestures/anatomy. After Hampton I started my Bridgman grind which took over a year, and I supplemented my anatomy with some Morpho, Stonehouse, and Anatomy for Sculptors (that's also the order in which I'd recommend those books). I also checked out Will Weston's figure drawing course and fell in love with it and the way he teaches. After Bridgman I did Loomis, and for the rest of the year I figure it's finally time to learn to render so I'm going through Med's Map. Next year I'm going to refresh my Weston and really buckle down on being able to draw dynamic figures from imagination.

Pic is me doing copies from the Loomis book, and then covering up the reference and drawing them again from memory. Huge gainz by doing this, I'd recommend doing it for the whole heads section at least once (pic is actually the second time I did the female plates) as well as rotating the block-ins 22.5 degrees along each axis until it becomes muscle memory.

>> No.6931671

>>6931664
Sketch, definitely. Don't treat them like Bargue plates. Build up your studies as if you were drawing them from imagination. You can sketch the foundation and then lighten it with a kneaded eraser to draw on top of it. Thanks for saying so! You'll have good days and bad days but don't get discouraged and keep pushing through.
