The built in flash is way too harsh for text and drawings, which is why the first drawing looks to washed out. Either soften it by placing something like a piece of tissue or wax paper in front of the light. Once the photo is taken, you could adjust the brightness and contrast in Photoshop, Krita, After Affects if you only have a phone, or any tool that has photo adjustment features. Here I also de-saturated the second image, separated the grey tones to it's own layer, and did some light cleanup.
