How would I have made that effect of spiders better bros?

>> No.6870460

>>6870366
I feel like the line of spiders should have been more detailed and large as they got closer, which you sort of do as they come over the first hill, but then they suddenly become small and lose and detail as they head back down the hill (inconsistent sizing). So you've poorly simplified the large line of spiders chasing the man (though the spider directly behind the man look good)... or the perspective is very odd.

I think another issue is the line weight. The man, and the hills have really thick line weights, but the spiders' line weight is thin no matter where they are in the image. I think some of the spider should have had thicker weight, and the line should have had more varied line weights throughout.

That's my quick view on it, I'm sure another anon has a better critique than I do.
Anyway, good job doing day two, keep it up Anon!

Then try to find a way to bend the prompt into what it is you want to draw, sort of like what you did already.
For example, you could have drawn a navigator, or a sherpa, or a creature that blocks the path, etc.

If you draw, I'm sure you're creative enough to work something out... that said, I do hate the prompts too, so whatevs.

It's not a specific reference, more of a pastiche based on the idea of a "spy spider driving a spyder (another term for a convertible roadster)". There's a little James Bond, the shadowy villain is borrowed from Jhn Goodman's character is Arachnophobia.

Says who?

From the current website:

>Inktober rules:
>1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

>2) Post it*

>3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2023

>4) Repeat

It even has a tutorial for inking. https://inktober.com/how-to-ink

Inktober is, unsurprisingly, about INK. There's a reason why nobody is asking "Hey, is working in ink allowed in Inktober? Or is it just digital?"

The barrier to entry is drawing on paper with a pen, which I have personally been doing since I was two years old, and this is the glass ceiling which needs to be shattered to give month-long drawing challenges to the poor masses with their thousand dollar tablets, and all who claim that the inktober is better done in ink is literally hitler.

Honest question for the people putting out the really detailed high quality stuff:
Is art your profession? Is that why you’re able to spend extra time on drawings?
If not, how are you able to put out high quality drawings while also balancing your IRL job? Do you try to do daily prompts, or do you just spend time on the ones that look most fun?

First you have to ask what you mean by professional. My definition is that if you get paid to do it, you're a professional. Others will say you're a professional if the money you make sustains your living. I get paid for my art but not enough to sustain my living.

I am an abstract painter and with these nature inspired prompts I am putting out more finished detailed work than I normally do while also practicing female anatomy. >>6875781

I think what helped is spending a few hours one day before October sketching a couple of the prompts beforehand. Then whenever I feel like drawing throughout the day I make sure I'm sketching or doodling one of the prompts. I'm up to day 17 with the sketches. When each day comes and goes, I make sure to ink the day's prompt and post it. This way I am drawing every day with ink while not putting pressure on myself to do the creative process from start to finish in the few hours and/or brain cells I may or may not have that particular day.

Another thing that's helped is to not try so hard. To give myself room to half-ass or not line something perfectly or have master draftsman quality figures. I'd like to have that, but that's not where my skill level is at right now so I practice not judging myself or my art and produce what is happening right there in the moment.

And something that keeps me in the space of drawing without being distracted by ADHD is to listen to an audiobook. I'm currently listening to "The Body Keeps The Score" by Bessel van der Kolk. It's very technical heavy with data and statistics as well as scientific study stories. I'm able to focus on what I'm drawing for myself that way. I think my art would be different if I listened to a story book so keep that in mind, the subconscious is always awake and taking artistic creative information from around us. So you have to know yourself or learn about yourself in the process. It's something new I found this inktober and I'm grateful. Hope that helps.

Thank you, but not really on the socials. I have an Instagram account but all it has are the Inktober posts from last year and this year. I've been meaning to do more, but life (and self-doubt) gets in the way.

Thanks! I like how it turned out, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't more accidentally cool than intentional. (But more intentional than stuff I've done in the past).

It works really well in your pieces. Color has always scared the shit out of me.

>i dont know nothing about dodge city
Other than it being an Old West town, that's about it. Glad you like it! This may seem like odd praise, but I like how your pieces work in thumbnail and full size. I see a lot in other threads that look really good as thumbnails but fall apart in full size.

I can't put my finger on it, but these are really appealing to me. Not sure if it's the hatching or the use of negative space. Great stuff

This was actually kind of a pain. The gold glitter ink is difficult to work with. It doesn't want to stay as a colloid, so you constantly need to stir it, or you don't get a steady consistency. It's also not resistant to rubbing, so I couldn't do a pencil underdrawing. I did one on separate paper under the one I was drawing on, but it wasn't really visible. If I did this again, I'd see if I could jury-rig an old tablet into a crude light table.
Also, as you can see, my hands just aren't steady enough for drawing freehand chemistry diagrams. I just hope I didn't fuck up the number of electrons. There should be 79.

New thread when?
