If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

>TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction
to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help.
When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

>mechanical anything use programs like inventor, autocad, solid works or just any 3d modelling software ala zbrush or just blender. that wont teach you how to draw, it will teach you how to sculpt in that one software which will be endorsed by school / teacher.
Darn. The more I think about it the more I don't think a formal education path will exist for the thing I want since honestly? I'd just be going to goof around. Best way to describe the thing I'd look for is Charles Hu or Peter Han but teaching design like Scott Robertson. That's all shit I can do now but it's probably not viable for anything other than posting on socials when you're good so of course a school won't have that.

Some ground rules to start this thread and the next /beg/ threads off:

>if you are /beg/
Don't ever give advice.
You can relate and share your hardships with other /beg/s, but never give them advice.
If you MUST give advice, start the reply off with "I'm beg, but what worked for me is..."

>Before you post your work
1. Every person giving advice here expects for you to have atleast read some of the sticky, and that you already know what you should be doing to improve.
In that light, replies such as "grind more fundamentals" are perfectly viable advice.
We expect you to know what the general fundamentals are (gesture, anatomy, perspective, drapery, etc.), and we expect you to know where you can find resources to practice these subjects.
Sometimes literally the only good advice to give is to practice more and improve your technique.

2. DO NOT post your 5 minute sketches that you didn't put much thought into. If you do post them then make sure to ask for SPECIFIC advice on a specific subject.
If you post a doodle and ask "where did i go wrong" or "how should I continue from here", expect to get meme replies such as "Loomis".

Follow these simple rules and the generals will become much more productive for both the /beg/s and the people giving advice.

I feel like DAB is great for grinding at the office. If someone saw my sketchbook and saw it was nothing but boxes and ellipses then I doubt they'd get as mad as if they saw some tits and ass. They'd just assume I'm doodling random geometric stuff.

Though I did try doodling some coworkers after "stealing a glance". I'm too pussy to keep ogling properly.

By the way, anyone got any good suggestions to draw ass in public? I saw lots of good ass in jeans yesterday when I went outside to draw people but they moved around too much for me to really feel the forms, if you know what I mean

Alright so I had a rough night of sleep and tried to do some, but felt too tired and worn out to do it properly...and for some reason it came out REALLY bad.

Like, I have no idea how I screwed up the smaller pictures, I had the reference and everything, yet the position of the hands and head were completely wrong.

I'll try and do a lot more tomorrow, but how the hell do you get out of this phase of just merely being unable to position things properly? It's bizarre to me because I've only gotten it semi right ONCE, yet how come it's so hard to reproduce?

No, the one on the right is how it looks like when it's mirrored, and it looks worse because you are western and read left to right, which also causes you to view everything left to right intuitively. For the picture on the right you keep trying to read it from left to right but it doesn't flow as well from left to right. People from the east will prefer the one on the right instead
The solution to this is to make drawings that read well from both sides or not do horizontal flow or just accept that not everyone on earth will like your drawing

because that's not how you do gesture, he doesn't capture the most essential parts like the the feet curling up against one another, the weight of the legs and how they bend his spine, his outstretched fingers, how he's clearly straining to look forward and how his neck crumples up.

The angle of the weight bearing forearms is wrong, and im not saying you have to have the PERFECT angle but he drew it wrong in the WRONG direction, making it look like it's bearing less weight

people who ask these kinds of questions need to read the sticky.

Basically, study from reference... draw from imagination. Both activities should occur concurrently for the rest of your life.

I recommend figure drawing as your study for the next few years. Study Hampton and Bridgman and Loomis and Vilppu, and you'll be fine. Take a constructive approach, so you can draw from imagination.

day 73
You know, when you exercise hard, you need to rest hard, but if you train light, you can rest light. Train hard + rest light is only possible on peds. I remember posts from a while back complaining how people who practice minimal amounts are way better that them, when they draw for hours and hours daily.
Another thing that I thought about is the rising use of stimulants, you guys might be competing with people on caffeine, adderall, nicotine and whatever else they can get their hands on /blog1
You guys ever notice how pros and ints can draw just random blobs and lines and they just look good? Anatomy and realism doesn't apply here anymore so why does it work? These fuckers are hiding something that they don't show in their grift-ass tutorials, well jokes on them, once I get it I'm gonna make them squeal and tell everybody how you do it, that's just the kind of revolutionary I am. Today's practice was about just trying to apply everything I know about the simplest most atomized techniques possible /blog2
A tough pill to swallow is that watching a bunch of youtube videos about drawing will actually help you immensely, but I have weird reservations about doing that, like I want to develop all the skills myself /blog3

thoughts on this? its not exactly as loomis tells you to do it but i think this might work good for me.
is this sound construction? is the perspective sound?
i think i made one mistake here and that is i use the corner that sticks out of the cube as middle point for the circle and therefore the sphere. but i should have, its the point on the sphere that is closest to the viewer, not the core of it.
it doesnt matter much from this perspective but it has to be skewed just a bit to the right.
then it works right? ill do more of this later
i think like this i can finally construct heads without trouble.

skull on the right looks symbol drawn, maybe check keys for drawing if you're brand new to this. everybody's lines look like shit for a long time but you gotta embrace that until it works itself out and you start getting comfortable, keep your lines smooth and confident like on the box on the left and avoid hairy repeated lines like on the skull and you'll get there

no, no, you can finish perspective. Whether you can finish environment design or car drawing is another question, but the rules of linear perspective is concrete

You should've used reference for the Kangaroo. The way Kim Jung Gi did it was by looking at the reference, putting it away, then drawing it from all angles. After doing that awhile, he would look at his references again and see where he was off. Then he'd put away the references all over again and draw the kangaroo from all angles. That way he memorized the forms and could produce it from imagination.

as for tablet vs paper you should try both and see what you prefer and learn fastest with. you can get covers for your tablet that give it a similar friction to paper if you go that way

a few things I've noticed
>her right ear just clipping through the hair
>the hair behind her neck is brighter and blends into the background
>chainmail is melty
>the bottom trim of the pauldron is as bright as the top despite being in the shadow
>missing finger on left hand
>bandage straps make no sense
>breastplate is warped
>she's stood on top of the water
>patchwork copy and paste background
overall its pretty good, I especially like how you did the lion head

actually the finger is still there, its just hidden. Not sure you mean by the breast plate, would have to see a redline that. The hair behind the hair being brighter is a stylistic choice I see in gacha games. I see the water as being more of a puddles and not that deep so I didnt see that as much of an issue.

ill also paint some moar flower variation and cut and remove of some of the white ones to make it a bit more natural..as for the bandage strap and ear, I can fix the ear to show the hair overlapping it a bit more but I still wanna show lil bit of both of her ears. The straps are supposed to be kinda placed with those tiny metal pins but Ill put a belt buckle or some shit so people dont complain about it

Try the dgVoodoo option in the new win10fix settings.
Alternative: Update your AAU and see if it happens again. If so, disable win10fix, enable wined3d and software vertex processing.
