I doubt it's all that good in actual fact. For example the link upthread has mediocre art and worst of all, looks generic, sorry to say. Nothing eye catching or inventive about it at a glance, which is fatal. That's just how it is in /ic/, you all overwhelmingly have boring, narrow taste.
Do something new and exciting. Not easy but worth the struggle.
One thing that is true, though, is you can always just sell out and do coombrain shit. If that seems like the path for you, go for it.
Regardless, getting "demoralized" by art that you supposedly consider exciting is the gayest shit and a sign of ngmi. Find art that inspires you and forget about follower count. You are going to keep up with this comic, right, OP? Surely you're not using it just to make a point?

Hate to be that guy, but even speaking as one of the many literal who comic makers, it's usually a skill issue. I'm not about to say the average consumer has discerning taste or whatever, but generally speaking, the cream rises to the top. Sure, sometimes there definitely are works that maybe aren't as popular as they ought to be, but the more amateur/pro-am comics I see the more I believe that they tend to get as much attention as they deserve.
Most of the time, people are just making stuff they want to make and not really thinking much about it beyond that. I'm guilty of this. The problem is that if you make stuff the way you like it, only you will like it.
You have to consider what other people might want to see too. That doesn't mean become a slave to the algorithm or the mainstream, it means think critically about your ideas and separate your taste from your work. Shit like this is why editors are essential: they exist to help the author think critically about their own work by providing a second opinion, and to help nudge them toward making something successful, not just "good" (from the author's perspective).

The drawings aren't bad at all, but they're not very compelling. The pages are a bit crowded, the shots are too tight to really intuit what's going on, there isn't a very strong application of value throughout the compositions -- overall, it's not a very easy read. It doesn't pull you in like it needs to, and it doesn't give any of its sequences room to breathe.
Furthermore, the style is, to put it bluntly, kinda weak. I'm not really getting much of strong sense of personality from the work, it kinda just feels like a pastiche of "cool dark fantasy stuff I saw". That can work on its own when it feels like there's a unique spin being put on it, but nothing really jumps out to me here. In a word, it's generic... which isn't necessarily a death sentence on its own, but this first chapter does a pretty poor job of introducing us to the characters and conflict.
It's starting with some kind of ritual combat (can't read french), which does tell us what to expect, but it's not really doing a good job of providing us something to latch onto other than our broody title character. It does a poor job of showing us what's going on, why and why we should care. There's no clever twist on events either. It all just feels unmotivated. There's a bunch of grody monsters, a badass girl shows up and kills them then stares at the camera. Then a saint guy (lol) shows up and is just a giant foot thing. What's to latch on to here? We're not given a single good reason to read chapter 2.
And finally, they picked a terrible platform for what they're trying to make. Webtoons is tailored around digestible brainless reads, not stuff you have to squint and think about to even make sense of what you're looking at. Then there's the obvious demographic issue of creating a series that appears to be aimed at male teens and young adults on a platform that's found its audience primarily with teenage girls.

Now I'm not saying an author doesn't have the right to make whatever they want, but I can hardly say it's a surprise that they aren't super popular. Even if somebody who was into the dark fantasy niche and enjoyed the art, they probably wouldn't be very impressed by the introduction. It would take convincing to get somebody to give this a real shot, and that's obviously going to be a huge hurdle in the way of gaining popularity, even if it suddenly became amazing 5 chapters in or whatever.

This example aside, even my own work suffers from the same fundamental problem: when you're not very experienced, and you don't have anybody experienced to give critical feedback... this is what you get. Messy works that would not survive publication without alteration. It's the sad truth that's difficult to face when you're an author and difficult to identify when you're not experienced in the field, but it's a failure of the author to not recognize these flaws in their own work, to not craft a more polished experience, to not refine their ideas enough or not recognize when an idea might be a detriment to the quality of the work no matter how much you like it.

They all went through at least one, but probably multiple stages of editorial feedback to craft introductions that make the reader want to see more.
If you can't see the qualities of all those works and more, then what can I tell you? You lack a fundamental understanding of why they hit and why this Grimhild specifically and more broadly whatever small indie comic you can or more likely can't name doesn't. For one thing, two of those works were published in the single most-read comic publication on the planet, and the third isn't that far behind, so they have the obvious platform advantage. On top of that, they're published in a platform that actually appeals to the target audience of the comics themselves. Again, an obvious advantage over this example we're discussing. Even if you ignore the work itself you've failed to recognize a clear unambiguous reason one might not be as popular as the others, but I seriously doubt Grimhild would make it into any serious magazine without extensive revision.
Also, it's absolutely insane to attribute any of those 3 series' success to luck. Like what the hell kind of crack are you snorting to come to that conclusion? It's always been my dream to make comics for a living and webtoon seems to be the easiest option, the problem is the majority of readers in webtoon are incel women. they only read yaoi and romance slice of life stuff. Even in action comics you still can't escape this gay shit because that's how they bait their target audience. Only a few comics can survive without these elements but they will never top rank or get advertising on the front page.

Pic related is not mine, I just want to show you the example of top rank webtoon comic in my country looks like and other tops are more or less the same. With my current skills, I can replicate this art style without problem but I can't imagine drawing this gay shit every day for the next 5 years. I don't know what definition of the term you're using, but as far as I know I don't follow any identifiable method. I start the head with a rough circle-ish shape, sometimes using the brow-line cross thing to mark where the face is pointing but then I go straight to drawing the features on.

In my experience reading Oglaf half of the strips have actual punchlines, like the first one you posted, and the other half are more like what-if concepts that just sort of play themselves out like the 2nd one you posted.
