The small clock thing with him is called Horacio, an invention of his father, Horacio is what you can call an anomaly detector, gathering information about them in an small amount of time…

I've put her up before, but no one can stop me from doing it again.

Inspired by Pinocchio (of course), Pinja is a changeling, produced by a powerful fairy to serve as the daughter of a lonely old woodworker. While she's pretty benign as far as changelings go, her behaviour is not exactly model.

I tried a bunch of different grains and colours because I could never decide which I preferred.

Yes, good, everyone should get into watercolor! The most fun medium in the world. This >>6839731
was not painted on Arches, it was on cellulose sketchbook paper. Pic related is the exact one, only unopened. It is quite small, pencil for scale. While cotton paper is definitely nicer to work on it isn't a necessity unless you're doing lots of large scale paintings using wet in wet techniques and need ultra smooth gradients and unlimited layering. Since I mostly paint stylized character illustrations, cellulose is fine for the most part, but Arches hot press is my favorite paper. I've heard that Baohong academy paper is a good and cheap 100% cotton alternative to Arches, though I haven't tried it yet. I mostly use textureless/hot press/mixed media paper since it makes adding small details a lot easier.
I love the paper in the Stillman and Birn Zeta series sketchbook, for the quality you get the price is actually very good. Another affordable paper I like is Claire Fontaine mix media, it's very smooth and decently thick.
Cheap paints that I can reccommend are Van Gogh, Roman Szmal and White Nights. Apparently Da Vinci is cheap and high quality but it's amerifat only so I haven't used it. I would not reccommend W&N Cotman, the colors feel very unsaturated. I would also reccommend getting a set of at least 12 or so colors. There are a lot of 6 color starter sets with blues, reds and yellows (split primary), but if it's your first foray into the medium you'll be forced to learn both how to paint And how to color mix at the same time which could cause unneeded frustration. Some brands do some colors better than others so watch youtube swatching videos, read reviews etc before purchasing paints, especially if they're expensive.

I might refine this a bit later, but I wanted to post today. I think the biggest problem with that as a comic character is all the geometric shapes. Those are a pain to draw, especially if you try to do it accurately over and over again. If you want some suggestions on ways to simplify it, I might also just not have him extend all his bits most of the time. I think he's got enough going on with his design that you can shave off a few details without sacrificing the overall visual impression.

This is a character I made for a series of joke threads on /vp/. The body itself is brain dead and being controlled by the sentient mushroom on his head. He runs a town of possessed mushroom zombies. As for the backstory, she was a divine being before she got cursed. Now rafflesia flowers and thorny roots slowly grow/ take over her body, until she eventually dies unless she finds a cure. She's already blind on her left eye and has a gaping hole in her stomach, where now a Rafflesia floral chamber thing is.

This is my character Arianrhod. She's a spider witch and was raised in an underground cult. Her eyes are black because her cult tattoos everyone's eyes black for their coming of age ritual. Arianrhod's left eye is made of glass because the tattooist messed up, and because she became imperfect, her cult sold her off to be a concubine for a warlord. She escaped his harem and joined a witch coven. She likes energy crystals and spiders. You can draw her in different clothes if you want. However, she tends to overwork herself and never asks for help when she needs it.
