Your are usually gets shit talked if you post it outside the general threads or you reject criticism regardless as to how legitimate the critique actually is. I suggest the beg generals the people there are usually pretty chill and you get some pretty respectful critiques that aren't rude or bootcamp-y but get straight to the point.
The best artists are the ones that reject critique but are actually somewhat competent or even good at what they do. They're an anomaly and a funny one at that. You do you OP as long as you're drawing and trying to learn.

I don't give a fuck about making it, I want to one day step back, look at the piece and think that that's it, I'm good enough now.

When I went thru popular artists on social media with hundreds of thousands of followers and realized that half of them are high /beg/ or /int/ and there's literal nobodies way more skilled than them with 5k followers or less.

OP I had a similar experience in another board where a bunch of schizos were posting their AI generated garbage and I posted my art and mogged them, not in detail, but in SOVL.
The anons there praised me a lot which never happens here, where my art is ignored.

All the big accounts either have their own discord server buddies boosting them, they already made it pre-2010 in terms of numbers, are already working professionals and well-known or are in degenerate niches.

The internet has no real niche for original works i.e. it's so small and irrelevant, there really is no point.
At the core, social media art now always has to be

If you have to have social media presence, you only do it if you have a business to advertise yourself and where commissioners can contact you and see your work i.e. a public blog.

This is something I noticed /ic/ doesn't bother doing and goes straight into making shitty stories/characters/art without realizing that people have no reason to be invested nor any interest in your ideas. Parodies and fanart can help kickstart your career. You guys do have inspirations, don't you?
