I got a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra half a year ago, and its too small for proper sketching. Same thing obviously applies to all the 16" tablets and iPad Pro.

There is something weird about the way the Samsung S-Pen feels when drawing on the glass of the tablet. I know there is more friction than the Apple pencil on glass, but it still definitely doesn't feel like paper and lacks that feeling of flow. I think the S-Pen has a flayed nib and I wonder if it gets worn out over time, even when drawing on glass.

The problem is that these Chinese marketing departments spread misinformation like "chink tablets are just as good as wacom now!", when that simply isn't true.

Maybe their shortcomings won't bother everyone, but if you want to work professionally as an artist, you want hardware that never gets in your way and allows you to work efficiently. If you constantly have to redraw your lines because the pen isn't tracking your pressure properly, or you keep getting fishhooks, then that's going to have a significant effect on your productivity.

The S-pens have a weird felt nib that falls apart pretty fast, because they didn't want to add any texture to the glass because it'd feel like shit for finger use. I've never used an apple pencil, but I imagine their rubber nibs hold up better over time.

Nothing wrong with it! Had one for a long time, worked great as a start into digital art for me. I would highly recommend the Sketchbook drawing program (from microsoft store) or any program that is guaranteed to work with Windows Ink for the best palm rejection and gesture compatability.
Things to watch out for:
- On my model the back vents were positioned in a way that heated the upper middle of the screen when drawing. The computer was fine, just not as comfortable to draw on for hours on end.
- After years of use there will be noticeable smooth spots on the screen, where the coating on the glass (or whatever it is) has worn off. This makes the pen slip. This won't impact the detection of the pen in any way.
- I found the two buttons on the pen almost impossible to orient and use consistently, this is where programs with gestures come in, or a bluetooth keyboard.
- The screen is flimsy for a folding laptop. It is very durable don't get me wrong, it won't break, but still you won't be able to use it positioned like your pic for drawing. Get a stand or a leaned surface and fold it flat.
- The screen is 1080p, people will say that's not enough. People are wrong.
Overall a good laptop. Can take a hell of a lot of abuse and just keeps going. Can handle 2d animation software just fine too. Not sure about 3d work tho

Any iPadPro M2 users having trouble with screen dimming? Used a Gen1 for several years, battery started to die so I got the M2 in November. Recently, even with Auto Brightness off, mine often suddenly drops to 80, 60 or 50% brightness. Apparently this is a feature to save it from overheating. My Gen 1 12.9 never dimmed like this. Usually happens with Clip Studio, but the other day even in Procreate it started dimming.
My guess is the M2 is too powerful to cram into a thin tablet, and needs more cooling to function properly. Apple pushed it to keep the arbitrary hype train moving along.
tldr: if you’re looking at a new iPad Pro, consider previous non-M2 versions.

Are you using Clip Studio Paint? I was having this same issue and I was losing my mind before I found a solution that actually worked online.

Open Task Manager and end the "XboxStat.exe" process.

For some reason, Xbox Controller drivers cause CSP to act like this for whatever reason. Once the process is closed, it'll work like normal. At least it did for me.

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I only started getting this after updating CSP for maybe downgrading to an earlier version might help.

From what I've read it seems to be an issue that comes up if you have a multi monitor setup? As annoying as it is, trying using only one display and see what happens.

If anything else, try adjusting options in the Performance menu for CSP and reducing some options to lessen the amount of RAM CSP uses.

It's a refurbished model I got from huion's ebay account for ~$400, which is what they're still at last I checked. They have sales pretty frequently, but not sure if there's anything going on rn. You could probably hold out until black Friday if you aren't in a hurry, I imagine they'll have good sales then.

I have both a cintiq hd22 and an even older huion than yours. My cintiq broke down 5 years in (the usual cap issue) and I fixed it, but I got the huion as insurance and now I use it because it's smaller, lighter and the screen looks better. That said, the cintiq is a better tablet. I had to buy a new pen for the huion with AAA battery, no such issue with the cintiq pen, also the cintiq can be found refurbished for cheap now and overall the sensitivity, tilt and lines are better in the cintiq. The huion has weird annoyances with multiple monitors that's fixed with the correct firmware. So I recommend Wacom, but frankly the huion brand is fine if you want something new and lighter for cheaper that still works and is at least comparable. Wacom software and customer service is as crap as any chink one.
