I use this board religiously and I’m literally a mixed race lgbtq+-supporting progressive. No one really cares because no one I associate with would ever think to look here, and also I never say or do anything to endorse the unseemly behavior on this board. To me it’s just an art space with less censorship but I just hide threads I don’t like and don’t interact with people I don’t want to interact with. It’s not any different than posting on Twitter, just because I post there doesn’t mean I endorse the wignats who use it.

I'm far left and I post on here because it's the only good place to get feedback. If someone were to freak out about it I'd tell them the truth; I use pretty much every social media site and don't discriminate. I'm on Tumblr, Twitter, tiktok, reddit, etc. 4chan is just another website in the pile. Of course some people might be put off by the slurs flung around here but Tumblr is like that too, especially with faggot. I stay in my lane, ignore the chuds and enjoy the arts. If you draw coom, you’re probably fine regardless. Shadman or BBC Chan can post here and nobody’d bat an eye. Proko or whoever would probably be controversial.

Depending on how you associate with /ic/ and what you do, it may or may not be okay. Different people will react differently to different levels of association. If you just make a vague reference to or post a resource you found here, that’s probably fine. Plausible deniability. Some anons might connect the dots and go “I wonder if they lurk here.” But that’ll be the extent of it.
If you post your own work here, then anons will notice. Some may think it’s a LARP. If you publicly declare you’re a /b/tard or something — basically what I’m getting at is there’s a difference between anons going “he theoretically might lurk” and some internet savvy types thinking “he’s visited the art board sometimes” and normalfags going “he’s one of them hackers known as 4chan.”

I’d also be cautious if you’re involved in the art industry or employed by anything remotely woke AND this can be deduced from your social media. Because then it’s not just you being associated with 4chan, it’s Blizzard or Disney or whatever. Then you run the risk of “zomg they employ this evil degenerate fascist! Cancel them! Or get him fired!” If you ever aspire to be employed in the industry, then you should also be cautious. Don’t publicly associate with us on socials tied to your irl name/you as a person. If it’s an anonymous account, then the potential employer has plausible deniability.

They say it because the "no one cares" thing, is real. And then, of course, deep inside they know they are not in the GMI segment of artists.
