Albrecht Dürer "Young Hare." He was one of the few renaissance artists who could actually draw animals.

I reckon it wasnt common because animals weren't good models and moved around a lot.

I drew some weeds while on break at work also. It's also pretty beg, but I think it's pretty good for standing and holding the book in your hand. Drawing "off hand" as it were.

Some artists would paint hunted animals as a still life. I'm not sure if it's allowed to post such paintings? for example, Jean-Baptiste Oudry or Frans Snyders

I can still remember the time I quit and lost my interest in drawing. Drawing of trees are the only stuff left on me and I think I can still draw them they might only be the one I can drew If ever I come back. It was a breeze to see thread like this. I go here occasionally to appreciate the craft and acknowledge the dedication that people put that I never did. Keep on pursuing and enjoy the process

Hi guys! I'm working with some cool editor on a book project for college. We are making a book inspired on "Flower fairies" by Cicely Mary Barker

The idea is almost set and done, but she thinks my drawings are a bit too digital for a naturalist work.
The brushstrokes and the colors, to be more specific.

Any advice?

Hi anon, what program do you use?
I'd try adding some paper texture to the image and maybe some watercolor blooms to make it look more "traditional" amongst other textures you normally see in trad art (charcoal, pencil, etc)

Hey! I'm using Photoshop for color and CSP for lineart.
That's a great idea! I was thinking about doing the first half of the drawing on traditional media, since my teacher is really trad about all this. But I'm worried about the time, since this needs to be done by November (28 illustrations)

I will try this and maybe scan some watercolor splashes of my own too

Quick question: Does anyone know where to find 1800's naturalists journals? Even if my book is an illustrated catalogue, my teacher told me it's too bland and predictable (Rhythm-wise)
And I should take a look at some old journals, botanic books and some artists she recommended. I can look for the last two myself, but I have no idea about the journals
