I would never take away from the happiness someone gets from their art, but when I see people fawn over stuff that is essentially just what you'd learn from a summer of painting plus careful application of stickers (with heavy use of references and the undo button) I feel less bad about grinding it out as a shitter on printer paper, committing forms to memory with a fineliner. Realize that people's opinions mean very little because most people when it comes to art have trash taste and normies will circle jerk most artists off for the most pedestrian of technical skill.

Lets be honest, no one in this board is as high in the game to be treated anywhere near "god-like" status on a daily basis, some praises here and there, but nothing like rotting in fame and stuff

That said, I've *dealt* with people praising me a bit once or twice before and, I dont know if this is the work of my self esteem problems rotting me from the core or something else, but I find it extremely annoying and makes me act sharply and cold towards these people by instinct alone. I am polite above everything, but I admit having people treating me way too specially, even if it is in good faith, makes me very irritated. Is this normal?

Depends on the niche.
If you draw the autistic fujogay shit, you're going to be put in a hugbox.
If you draw porn, you're going to have coomers and kids praising and sharing your stuff as to groom you into doing more.
If you draw for a niche fandom, it's basically the same.

Usually, when i get nice comments, i slap a like on it or ignore.
I only answer comments that actually seem interesting and can spark a discussion.

Yeah, not trusting randos when they start praising is completely fair, though sometimes I find people that praise me seemingly for the sake of it, rather than for any ulterior motive and I honestly find those cases really underwhelming.

I think you're implying a little too much, anon...
I simply find the idea of being an important pillar within a niche kind of fun, something small to be invested in, but Im not saying that's my definitive goal as an artist, or that Im looking for worship and validation, as I mentioned I simply hate being overpraised. If you're asking me, my goal is to find a place for myself as an artist and designer, improve as much as I can within my crafts, and be able to get a decent living off of it, even if it's a secondary job.
