It finally learned how to render hands.

AI art is only scary for people who put profit over passion. If you draw because you actually just like it, what some soulless techfags do with their computers isn't a concern.

no matter how "good" it gets it lacks the spark of real art. AIbros know this on a subconscious level, which is why they get so butthurt when artists refuse to accept their tech-boosterism.

This is so inspiring. You know the tech is only going to get better, I'm all giddy and excited to play with it and explore my creativity hehe. Artbros, we're gonna make it :3

>Someone with no moral compass fine-tunes a model/lora on someone else's photos or art, overfitting the model in the process.
>ML illiterate person/copium addicted AI bro sees the images coming out of this overfitted model
>"Oh my god bros AI is getting better every day bros. Bros, it's just insane how good it's getting we're gonna be generating full length films in 2 more months bros, it's so over for society bros luls"

I've just about McFuckin' had it with this stupidity. This tech (diffusion models and the transformer architecture) has been around since about mid 2010s. There has been relatively little actual "tech innovation" outside of these two things in the last decade. The only thing that has really changed is the increase in processing power of GPUs, and the decision to switch from small-scale datasets intended for research, to just using every image on the internet they can get their hands on. That's it. Every new midjourney version, every new iteration of gpt, is literally just scaling up the amount of parameters, and or the amount of data used to train the models. There is no "Oh my god they figured out the secret formula to hands!", it's just brute force probability algorithms, throwing unfathomable amounts of shit at the wall until you see jesus's face appear. We're watching a blind man shoot a shotgun for hours at a bullseye target 1000 meters away, and when one of those shotgun pellets miraculously lands only 5 feet off the mark, gullible retards and ai bros are going "jesus christ it's jason bourne".

The whole success of this ai hype wave is hinged on the notion that most people do not and will not try to understand what machine learning actually is, and that curious outsiders will most likely first interact with the dunning-kruger techbros/compsci people (who never actually worked in ML), who will try to convince the outsiders that they know better about AI because they went into stem (smart math people) and the outsiders went into some dumb shit like the humanities, and you should just take their word when they say these AI models learn the same way people do, even though ML experts themselves frequently say things that contradict this claim, or even directly call out AI bros on their bullshit.
