If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

I feel like perspective is a never ending battle. I decided to work through Norling's Perspective Made Easy and then the Dongho Kim book. About 1/2 through Norling and the X and Y axis for vanishing points makes sense, it imitates what we see and all, but fuck me running my brain can't force my hands to do the thing properly. And then he starts on cylinders and I guess I'm full up on learning for the day (yesterday) because it all went in and out without a bit of info really sticking. I'm going back to Vilppu beans until I can free up space to process more perspective bricks.

When you pick up your pencil and start practicing drawing the human figure with basic fundamentals you will be on your way to drawing good humans. You will have to draw a lot of crap before you get to something even passably ok. There is no other way around it. Read sticky, and work on your bridgman, loomis, morpho, or w/e and avoid 'draw a box', because that is where /begs/ go to quit.

from what i can understand it can be about as detailed as you want. it seems to be in the range of basic forms/construction but i’ve seen some examples that have more detailed muscles.

as a beginner i would just learn the basic construction of the body and try to do that. also most fishier drawings tend to build off of gesture kinda like a second step so if you really want to you can do the fastest more simplified gesture then just move on to the figure

Gesture is a shit meme for beginners, but a drawing going poorly isn't a sign something went wrong, just a sign you need to do more of it.

But it also sounds like you're trying to draw things that aren't there, like drawing the naked body of a clothed figure. Don't do that. Draw exactly what you see.

this is the part where practice comes in. just try to just basic form at different angles and if that’s too hard then try to use references, (3d models are helpful for that) just make sure to practice some from imagination too

>> No.6683366

I hate this meme, it's a /beg/ mindset trap. Drawing for most adults IS boring until you're capable of creating something you aren't embarrassed of showing to people and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Art is not always fun, it's a lot of painful grinding that nobody, not even you most of the time, is going to want to see the efforts of.

All practice is not fun, that's a well accepted thing in psychology, and makes sense because you are literally exercising your brain. But to say drawing in itself isn't fun, that means that you aren't playing with your art, you are just doing 1000 loomis heads and pretending it's all art is, when in reality, this is the practice part.

complete preference thing

no display is cheaper by leaps and bounds tho
also another thing with no display is that you need decent hand-eye coordination for it but i adjusted in about a day and my hand eye coordination is horrible normally so it isn’t that big a deal

the is picture of of my personal tablet, i bought it cause it was pink because i’m a pink girly monstrosity (if your a normal person and don’t like pink it also comes in black and green) but it’s seriously a good tablet. the pen feels nice to use and the texture on the screen is good, i also an obsessed with the button shortcuts.i bought it off the walmart website cause it was cheapest there ($50, it’s $60 on amazon) and i’m broke. seriously no complaints with it it’s excellent.
(i sound like im sponsored…)

haha you’ll need a not broke anon for advice on display tablets but if it’s not obvious i’m biased towards non display tablets

I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about - that's just kind of the appearance of hair? The cranium is sphere-ish so its like laying cloth over a soccer ball, it all drapes down from the highest point. Obviously the hair grows from all over the skull but the hair that grows higher up hangs down and overlaps the hair growing lower so it appears as continuous flow.

BUT the most interesting thing here, are the hands, you really want to make them awesome. So make hand studies, cool action hands. Search all the hands in Baki the Grappler's manga. BEST HANDS, for action, you have it man.

looking good bro. Bridgman is a great way to learn your anatomy. Just copy through his book, over and over again, multiple times. Combine that with figure drawing and master copies.

The intermediate plateau takes the longest to overcome. Your work won't look quite professional for a while, despite the hundreds of hours you're putting in. Don't worry though, because you'll eventually make it

learn to look at an artist's drawing and copy it exactly, 1:1. It looks like you're copying Morpho, and that's great, but you're not being accurate enough. Slow down, and work in pencil, to correct your mistakes. There's no room for sloppiness.

Asians are predominantly left brained, thus their higher on average IQ. Drawing needs to be done on the right side, drawing like Krenz is basically turning your brain into a copying machine that is symbol drawing on steroids, but that reflects asian culture perfectly I guess, repeat something until it's so burned into your mind that you can draw it from imagination. isnt it better to "redraw" stuff from somebody else who is better than you? aka master studies?
>>6685333

did this dude ever released anything about how to draw?
>>6684331
i would define SOUL as when your appeal is very high but the technique is somewhat poor, simple or nonexistent. Also the drawing needs to have a certain vibe to it. And also many anons say soul to anything which looks bad but you can tell its author made an effort.

people always say getting started is the hardest part of learning to draw, but they never say how to get started....

Obviously, yeah, but Im also leagues better than I used to be and this is a nice fun practice, also this is the first time I've drawn multiple days in a row, it's getting me back into art. No harm in doing it. Back when I filled the sketchbook I'm redrawing, I was literally drawing every single day, for nearly 3 years. I'm already starting to feel the same joy that I felt when I was there.

NTA, but I am pretty sure he made a couple courses, it seemed the "watch me draw and figure it out yourself " type of course though.
Also, good work on the perspective, Pawell. I am pretty curious on how it will impact your work when you finish.

KJG was one of those people who learned to draw by drawing the shit he saw around him compulsively for his entire childhood - artists like that don't know how to go about teaching, unless they actively make a point in learning how.
