how do you draw consistently with unmedicated adhd?
i chug two red bulls every morning and limit distractions but often i'll only be able to draw for an hour at best before i mentally and physically cannot move my pencil anymore. i try to aim for 4 hours a day, 2 for free drawing and two for practice and i never complete it, what do i do?
>meds
not in a situation where i can get on them, don't want to get into detail

Caffiene only ever hurt me in the way you describe. I crash an hour later. Try some dudeweed. Instead of thinking of gains in hours focus on what you want. I want to make a video game so I think "lets make some map concepts" instead of "lets spend 4 hours making maps" and it makes starting/keeping at it less intimidating

stop, that's just going to worsen everything in the long run. make a habit of eating well, sleeping well, exercising. avoid excessive alcohol/substance consumption.

this is insane: your body wasn't made to drink red bulls, it was made to move around and do stuff with your hands.

caffeine is the only substance that has ever somewhat consistently made me feel calm and focused. i don't have access to marijuana.
wouldn't drawing all willy nilly instead of having a set out plan stunt your growth? i also want to use art as a way to build discipline.
i have tried to go on a high protein/low simple carb diet because i've read that that would temporarily give me some the neurotransmitters that i lack, but it only made me want to puke all day. sleeping is a struggle no matter what i do.

i find myself to be calmer after a run but i can't do that everyday. are there any intensive exercises i can do at home that release those same endorphins or whatever? preferably ones that don't build too much muscle?

Switch to coffee, energy drinks are a quick way to fuck your body up
Do you HAVE to draw for 4 hours a day? Sounds like a good way to hate drawing if you can't stand to draw for more than an hour anyhow

You can have a plan without hyperfocusing on the time spent. Think of the results you want. Such as, "i want to draw cars, today i will draw early model honda civics" instead of "draw cars for 2 hours" or what have you. If you can afford it, try getting a stationary bike for exercise

is it the sugar? i dont know what it is but coffee has never worked for me.
>Do you HAVE to draw for 4 hours a day? Sounds like a good way to hate drawing if you can't stand to draw for more than an hour anyhow
no, i try to because i want to improve fast, you're right though it's not the best plan.
>>6679629
i used to draw like this but i found that after making two sketches i'd get bored and trail off,

i believe the right middle ground might just be lessening the amount of time i aim to draw a day, maybe 2 instead of 4

Try skateboarding, it's a full body workout. Take supps such as l-theanine, you can also take l-tyrosine but that will increase blood pressure.

Jesus fucking Christ anon how are you not diabetic? I chug Monster Zeroes occasionally but how does the sugar not make you sick?
>Improving fast
You can't really grind art like in an MMO anon, it's more like weightlifting. You put in the time at the gym (drawing) and the recovery eating (reading, studies) and the most important part is time. Your brain can only learn so fast
But seriously fix your diet that is probably fucking you up more than anything else

I'll repeat myself once more: make a habit of eating well, sleeping well, and exercising. This is NOT a a short-term issue that you can solve with some potion/secret exercise. You MUST play long-term if you want to get better.

Feel free not to believe me, but do yourself a favor: setup an alarm in a few months to recall what I've just told you. If, as I expect, you haven't made much progress, perhaps you'd be more inclined to try it the other way then.

All drugs take back whatever they'll give; it's well-known for caffeine (I've heard many people talking about sleeping better and are more energized after stopping heavy coffee consumption, but you need to give your body time to adjust).

Quit thinking you know more than everyone else and listen to >>6679642 and wean off of unhealthy stimulants/meds. Adopt healthier eating/sleeping habits. Give your body time to adjust to new sleep schedule/exercise/diet. Alternatively, continue suffering. Your choice.

Literally not gonna make it.
The whole point of being an artist with ADHD is for you to not be able to do anything but draw, if you're forcing yourself to do it, then you won't ever do it enough to actually get good.
Check your priorities, they're very clear with ADHD, either you want to do something or you don't.

he is currently correct if you are not diagnosed anon. You could just hate drawing.
If you are adhd, a good practice is to have other things to switch too so you can switch back. I go from drawing, to cooking to gardening, back to drawing.

Have fun not making it anon. Keep mindlessly spiking redbulls every morning until your blood pressure skyrockets you into an inevitable coronary event. I’ll still be drawing and having fun while you’re on life support. I give it maybe 20 years. And those years are going to be garbage because you won’t take care of your body. Lol

>Just hyperfocus on art
Yeah, you just do that for a year or two then you'll actually start looking for other things to do but your mind will be so conditioned to draw that even if you tried you wouldn't be able to not draw.
First it's addiction, then a habit, you just have to draw, if you can't then you don't want to draw, it's simple as that with ADHD.

i often can't find the motivation to eat or take a piss, does that mean that i don't want to? are you actually retarded or just another elitist fag up their own ass that thinks they're better than everyone for being able to make somewhat appealing lines?

>> No.6680028

>>6680017
Yes, that does mean that you don't want to, if you wanted to you would run to the bathroom to take a great piss, obviously.
Is it so hard to consider that you're not having fun with art? That you don't actually enjoy doing it?
It doesn't mean you have to quit, it just means that whatever you're doing, you don't want to do it, and you won't get anywhere by having to force yourself to draw, find a way to make it exciting or don't do it.

if you can progressively come to eat rather light and diverse that's great. Keep things simple: like toss pieces of raw veggies & fruits in a bowl, season to taste, and tada, here's a 5min prep delicious meal

meditation can help too.

doctors are weird. some of them are great, but some of them will just find way to make money of your back.

Adding to that last bit, it's about the "path of less resistance", even if you disagree with this anon this bit does indeed play a role in actually commiting to doing art or anything you want in general.
Keep your tools and set up readily available while other distractions away from you or make them harder to get to.
Keeping notes or material like books or videos on your computer when you need some educative material because you're stuck or you want to try something in your practice is useful too, keep them close to your working space as well, the idea is you are only encouraged to focus on art while keeping things easily ready for you to go at it, for that keep your tasks clear and simple ie. rim light 30 min. study, watch a vid or a section of a book that covers it, have a mini set up on a table that has an irl ref like a pear for you to study from, or just have some pics ready with your prefered drawing software/irl painting tools ready to go for a 30 min. study.
Tl;dr Make a simple plan for practicing art and set up an environment that easily allows you to do it.

As someone with ADHD to a crippling degree, the only thing that's ever, helped, more than actual medication is caffeine but its really bad for you, I recommend Black Tea if you have to do it because it also has some other beneficial natural chemicals.

If you can, get diagnosed and get proper medication.
