Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284

If you have any additional questions, ask them.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills.

>I'm thinking of getting the Wacom One, should I buy it?
Fuck off retard. Ask a better question.

Recommended tablets:

>Intuos 3
Best screenless tablet. Look for one on Craigslist or Ebay.
>Intuos 4, 5 & Pro
Also good options. Will burn through your nibs.
>Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Budget portable display tablet. Very solid drawing experience with Wacom EMR tech, but a small 10.4" display area.
>Used iPad Pro 2nd Gen 12.9"
Best option for a display tablet.
>Galaxy Tab S7+/S8+
Good premium alternative to an iPad Pro
>One by Wacom (not Wacom One)
Solid cheap option

Avoid:

>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand
Poor build quality, lackluster pens, broken tilt, struggles to register light pressure, horrible customer support and the displays are not calibrated. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are. Also watch out, Chinese companies shill HARD on /ic/; they do a lot of samefagging and frequently hurl personal insults.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
The N-Trig digitizer means you will always get wobbly lines.

>Lenovo
Bad drawing performance because they're not designed with art in mind.

>iPads (brand new) - Bad value
>iMacs and Macbooks - Never buy this garbage under any circumstance. It's a locked ecosystem with rubbish hardware you can't upgrade.

Just how bad is the nib burning on the latest intuos pro?

>> No.6646695

>>6646520
I don't draw that often, maybe one large piece a week, and a new nib lasts two-three months before it starts wearing flat. If you draw with it everyday you'll probably burn through them. I sketch on my ipad and on paper though so i'm not thebest metric. Stuff like your pen pressure, grip strength and how often you use tilt affect how quickly it starts wearing down. I will say compared to earlier intuos tablets and alternatives, it's definitely noticeable. But it does feel nice to draw on.

Releasing another again this year, tells me that while last year's Displays were an improvement on XP-Pen's usual, they were still dragging behind Huion's leaps of improvement, so the bosses just threw that line to the trash and told them to just copy what the Xencelabs R&D department had done.
Honestly that's probably why the new Xencelabs Display hasn't come out yet, it would totally mogg the new Xp-Pen before it released.

I usually have to modify my brushes a lot to make them comfortable.
>1: Comfortable pencil brush I found
>2: Original Pen Brush

I have a small screenless tablet and usually pen brushes feel slippery of sorts (pencils are alright).
Will the 1:1 proportion of a screen tablet alleviate this, making the different pen brushes just a mater of style?

SMALL or MEDIUM?

Talking about the Intuos.
S is small and light enough that I could probably hold it and use it on my sofa like top pic.
M is so big, it fits my laptop and I would probably place it on my keyboard and use it there (like I did with my old Intuos 5).

I legit have no idea. More space can be great but I tried drawing on a couch with an ipad and it was very nice. Maybe the lack of screen would kill the benefits, I don't know

infinitepainter is zippy and more intuitive and snappy like procreate, but it's buggy and the fag developers keep breaking it just so they can add facebook integration or some other californian shit. I've lost a few projects because it likes to crash and only autosaves during a crash 99% of the time. But man, free transform was zippy on that program, and the UI is pretty minimal, leaving you more space to draw.

csp takes some setting up but it's incredibly customisable considering it's a mobile app. More robust than even lots of programs you'd find on a desktop.

I've been using Kamvas 22+ (GS2202) since it released.

Overall I think there's enough screen space to work comfortably. The matte etched glass is on the smoother side of "paper feel" when compared to actual paper, but it's no deal breaker and I imagine any rougher would chew through nibs. The stand's satisfyingly articulate, the pen has some girth, a rubber grip and feels comfortable in my hand. My only nitpicks are the 1080p resolution and that the color settings might need tuning out the box.

I don't know how much better the pricier tablets feel, but I haven't felt a need to upgrade yet. If you're skeptical, maybe try it under a refund window and and return it if you don't like it.

No. It's entirely on the artist's side of things and the feeling of the brush engines. Some like more apps/software/pens than others from a user experience but the end result is art regardless and you wouldn't be able to tell except maybe certain custom processing features unique to the program like gradients etc.

If you're used to 1080p, it might not be a problem at all for you.
For me, coming from >=1440p displays, this nitpick comes down to two things:

>Scaling of display elements
I work primarily in CSP. The display elements don't take up a terrible amount of space at the smallest settings, but after working on other, higher res devices I feel I could comfortably scale down further. My desktop's monitor is 1440p 27'', and its scaling at the same settings would be just right for me.
How this affects you depends on your choice of software and how your workspace is set up; I personally like to always have my palettes visible, but can use a shortcut to hide them if they're in the way.

>Sharpness of canvas when zoomed out
I'm no display expert but in my experience images on lower res displays images tend to lose sharpness more quickly when zoomed out. It can be subtle, and might be more noticeable if you're sitting elbow's length from the display or make heavy use of hard/aliased edges in your work. Overall not a huge deal for me as it doesn't really impede my workflow.

Overall I was in the market for a large, affordable display tablet for my desk and still feel I got my money's worth. Maybe if I did this long-term for a living independently and/or had a shitload of disposable income I'd go for some higher end 22-27in 4k display and that'd be the end of it for a long time, but for now I have no problem waiting for an upgrade at an attractive value. There's always the possibility that I got lucky with QC, so if you buy be mindful of that and get support ASAP if anything feels off.

>Its main downside is the resolution (only full HD) and the saturated colors out of the box.
The reason for that is that Windows works in sRGB by default and the tablet has wide gamut. That's a Windows problem, it's the same on any wide gamut display. Instead of installing some profiles which likely aren't fit for your particular display, try utilities like Novideo sRGB, they do gamut conversion precisely (just don't use the internal sRGB option on the monitor). If you have AMD or Intel instead of NVidia, there are utilities for these cards too.

It's good price wise and has a good interface but the layer limits are pretty frustrating in some situations. For an app that's so lauded and renowned, the devs should quit jacking off and work on that issue since so many other graphic apps on the iPad don't have it like that.
It is missing some useful features (deleting data outside canvas bounds when deselecting, autosaves with no undos, no vector support, rudimentary animation setup...), but I won't deny it's incredibly useful. I just wish they would optimize it, even at this price.

>>6649339
Unfortunately it's hard to pirate anything on the iPadOS. I don't know about jailbreaking, but even sideloading has some annoyances unless you have a Developer account. I managed to sideload Procreate once since it's a one-time purchase app, but CSP has some weird set-ups in place where even the loaded .IPA files refuse to run properly.

>>6649782
It's a matter of convenience. The iPad is cheaper than most display tablets, you don't need a separate computer to draw and it is portable. Unfortunately the limitations will show in some small parts, which would make professional work more challenging.

They can do, but wacom does that too. I can't recall the number of times the driver did not play well with windows or my art programs and i've had to turn wacon services on and off. The risk isn't the same as it used to from years ago, at least from my personal experience. Look up recent reviews, only buy the latest-ish iterations of said chink tablets, buy from amazon so returns are quick if you get a physically defective product. Look, i'm not saying don't buy a wacom, i'm saying you can decide whether to pay for something slightly cheaper now or if you want to drop money for something standard and which is viable for you financially. Since you're just doing it as a hobby, either choice is extremely low stakes since if something fails on you it's not like dying to get it replaced right away or is at any cost to your livelihood. Also keep in mind you're new to digital art so you don't need the latest and greatest 32 inch Cintiq Pro. You can probably buy a smaller display tablet or even a non-display that's even cheaper on either side.

Hatch lines work as intended, only the calligraphy pen (in CSP) doesn't work like intended (lack of rotation I guess). Personally exceeded my expectation.
>Xencelabs 24
This one was a mixed bag. Since I couldn't check the driver and device settings and the only test program was Medibang (vs CSP for the XP-Pen) I'll try to stay neutral but it was really underwhelming? The anti glare coating was either too strong or the brightness/gamma/contrast setting was fucked; the colors are really dull even compared to the Cintiq 16 that has subpar colors. Drawing was just... alright? Nothing extraordinary, but it does come with a few pens and the shortcut remote. No parallax or similar to the XP-Pen, so there's that.

The styluses from both brands are lighter that the Cintiq's, so you'll probably have to fiddle with the pressure curve and stabilisation if you like heavier styluses. Tbh my disappointment was that despite the big sizes of both tablets, I ended up drawing in a corner in the size of the Cintiq's and still end up zooming a lot lol. Maybe it's something you get used to in time. The only thing I can't say for certain is the longevity of all these brands but the drawing experience has definitely caught up 98% to Wacom's (sans the calligraphy pen, but I'm probably like the only 3 people in the world that uses it). I may go again tomorrow to test if I can substitute it with tilt rotation.

truthfully considering going balls deep with a cintiq pro 24 and just calling it a day. i have reason for it since i do art professionally now but god FUCK this price sucks DICK, 2200 is so fucking steep it's in striking range of how much it cost to build my PC

I feel like this is the true redpill, I'm very anal about parallax and pen lag, and I tried a few cintiqs at a convention and they all felt inferior to the iPad pro in that regard.
That is until I got to the pro 27, it was amazing, just in its own level to say the least. it must be the 120hz because all the other cintiqs felt sluggish compared to the iPad pro. Really fucking annoying cause it's inaffordable and massive, why haven't they made a smaller 120hz screen tablet yet?? I'm hesitant on getting the 22/16 pro because of this, I think I'll prefer the iPad pro even with its shit OS just cause they wont match the responsiveness.

I'm really struggling to decide between buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ and a 2nd Gen iPad Pro. Refurbished, used, or whatever the iPad would be almost half the price of the Samsung tablet, which I didn't expect at all. I wouldn't have guessed apple would be the cheaper option here, but I also have a general unfounded distrust against apple products, and I'm afraid I won't have good interconnectivity between that thing and my other devices like my laptop or PC. On the other hand, a lot of people seem to say that the iPad is the best mobile tablet for drawing

I also have a general unfounded distrust against apple products,

you're fucking retarded and deserve to waste your money on a galaxy tab then
piece of garbage that barely functions is great for you, a piece of garbage that barely functions and in all likelihood will never draw on whatever you buy anyways

>the iPad is the best mobile tablet for drawing
this is just normalfag thinking, "bro just buy an iphone it just werks and I have all my apps, accounts and files tied to their shitty proprietary closed environment anyway!"
once you get trapped it takes concentrated effort to unfuck yourself of their fist up your ass
in this case it really just depends on if you wanna spend the extra money or not, both are great besides the fact that one is >apple

It's the forced v-sync, if you dun like it just go back to Windows 7 and turn Aero off, if you are on a Mac then you're out of luck unless it's an old Mac Pro 5.1, then you can disable it. V-sync on a 60Hz display is quite laggy.

I'm on the same boat, wanted to get a used Cintiq but I know that at least one of these things will happen:
1) scratched with pits where the nib get stuck when drawing
2) LCD issues, flickering, dead pixels, uniformity issues,
3) work good for a few days then it goes bad
4) pen registering issues like wobbling or skipping where the issue is with the tablet itself and not the pen stylus

Man, after testing the Xencelab 24 now I'm thinking of just getting the Cintiq 22. Can Wacom just release a QHD update to it kek I don't need the bigger 24 inch size or features just a slightly bigger work area than my 16

>Been waiting for a 120Hz drawing display that wont cost like a jew's kidney from either XP-Pen or Huion alternative
>Huion came up with Surface Pro clone
>XP-Pen came up with another 2k display on a 14" screen and 'muh 16k pressure' that NOBODY would be able to tell
>Left with choosing standalone tablets like the iPad or Sammy tablets.

Fuck, guess you win this time huh wacumfag?
