Forgetting the anime style for a moment. >>6650687 looks more like a man because he has thicker brows, smaller eyes, especially along with the thicker nose, wider mouth, and he does have a much less round face. He has the benefit of realism overall, so even though he does look soft there is still something of a jaw, and a more pronounced chin. Also the widows peak and higher hairline, and much thicker eyebrows, but thinner eyelashes.

But he does have the benefit of realism, whereas you have to fight not just his style and softness but you're also doing anime style, where I think the masculine features are harder to do. Basically I think you have too many feminine plates to deal with.

The brown wig guy has thinner eyebrows even, and I think the eyelashes are almost mascara-y and more feminine than even the white wig guy. The dark lips too, seem to indicate lipstick more than the other guy, but then again maybe the times called for lipstick. I don't know if this is historically accurate.

But at the end of the day context says the most about gender. It's not uncommon for something in anime style to be very hard to tell about gender in general. But anime and manga involves a long story that confirms the gender intentions. Also the body proportions say more about gender than facial features. Assuming you nail the proportions, and the characters are in a pose that shows that, I think it's better outcome (even if you end up keeping the more female faces) than giving male faces but female body proportions - which is something done a lot in cbsg no offense to them.

The gold ornaments look like they were pasted over at the end instead of conforming to the shape of his body, the arm holding the book looks too small, and the arm holding the flower looks flat. Nice rendering especially on the hair and clothes. The colors you used are pleasing to look at. Nice piece overall.

Catbox because penis. I wanted to design a male with thicker thighs and waist, the kind of male you might see in classical art or sculpture. Left pose is him as a shota and right pose is him as a teen/young adult. Any critiques welcome, looking for feedback on the thigh/hip connection. What matters is getting the eye socket and cheekbone down, where most anime would stylize the far side of the face as two angular lines, that drawing has the peaks and valleys curving and visible. I feel like that small detail along with the more fleshed out nose is what you'd focus on drawing picrel. It's more 3d.
