/beg/ & /int/ - Beginner and Intermediate general

If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

I kinda suck with color too but let me suggest an experiment: do one of these regularly, then try using a background with some faint texture (or do it yourself fucking around with brushes) and add a simple layer mask color filled level, same with the drawing. Then try fiddling with layer styles and see if something decent comes up

Sometimes I really feel like I miss that illusion of genuinity I lived with when I still had a circle of friends some year ago. It made the world feel a little less cold.
It was an illusion because in the end came out that half of the friends were just a bunch of fucking selfish assholes that didn't give a fuck about anything apart their own butt. Every time I lose a piece of innocence I become deader.
Blog over.

Retard turbobeg question here.

I'm really bad and lazy with figuring out a personal study plan for myself (adhd) So I torrented the art class from marc brunet, which has daily assignments and weekly subjects to study. The class takes almost 2 years. Right now I'm at week 4 and you have to do stuff like 30 minutes of 1 min gesture, drawing boxes in 1 and 2 point perspective, doing his top 10 drawing exercise video on youtube, drawing a male and female body in the 8 head porportion grid until I can do it from memory.

I should do that daily, but to be honest I hate most of these exercises but gestures. My question is: What should I do next to these daily assignments, should I just study things I want to draw? And is following such a course a bad Idea? I like that it is layed out for me because I can follow a path, it's hard for me to do that on my own.

I'm just rambling but I'm trying to go through meds map and have been doing a lesson one day, practicing the rest of the week, and then repeating the process. First he taught how to render 3D shapes with a single light source which I felt like I did well at, but then the next week he went into stylized paintings using an apple as an example where he just made a few brush strokes and then blended. He says to practice on your own with different simple objects such as other fruits. This week he jumped up to painting skulls, and it feels like a huge leap. He barely explains in the demos how you're meant to visualize and break down things into shapes like that, the way I would go about breaking them down is different from how he would. his apple felt too abstract and his skull feels like the opposite where it's more complicated than it needs to be. He treats the skull like its as simple as just combining rendered 3d shapes together but then doesn't touch on all of the nuances to what he's doing to make it look cohesive. I don't understand why he went from a stylized abstract apple to a skull all the while saying its not about the accuracy if he was going to polish it so much and basically ignore the previous week's approach.

Watch the insertions and origins of the muscles, anon. The pec flows along with the deltoid muscles, and inserts between the biceps and triceps on the outer end. The neck has sternocleidomastoid muscles you're missing, which adds to the flow. The collarbone is it's own entity, not just the outline to the pecs. They have their own "bicycle handlebar" shape. These details matter

Hello beg, i think i figured out what to do with pieces which dont have 16:9 ratio. Put the image there twice or its phases. Why? Because otherwise the miniatures look really bad on my blog and you cannot even clearly see what is on it. Also i couldnt feel the form of the stones creating bonfire under the helmet. Feels beg.

if you will draw from good references you will learn eventually. less thinking more drawing
>>6637516
the reason why all begs should use references is because they learn new things while observing the reference, instead of cementing bad habits while trying to draw from imagination. If your sculptures are good then i dont see a problem with it. But the better question is: why not use references from somebody even better than yourself? Maybe after you will copy the great Michelangelo’s David you will even learn something you didnt know before about sculpting...

Hey guys, I've been animating for a small 1 min project I want to do.

I kind of shyed away from animating acting / dialogue, focusing more on runs. I've been trying to go deep on that in this project. I love what I'm trying to do, but I only get it 80% of the way. Like I have the overall movements down, but it feels too clunky, and jittery. The majority of it is on 2's with a bit of 1's and 3's here and there.

Any tips on making these more refined / clearer to understand? They feel rushed and jittery. Sorry can't post voice lines with them, 4chan won't let me upload webms here

again, feels jittery and the keys don't feel clear. Not sure how to make them more pronounced without slowing / stopping the movement.

in the rough planning stage, and the head is the most important part, which is why the body cuts out

the jittery effect largely comes from the parts of the person you are panning instead of rotating. Like in the first one, every body part is moving through some sort of slight rotation, but the head in parts looks like it is just being panned from one location to the next. This usually adds some gittery feel to the animation. I have a picrel example, but it's kind of short so it might not show it well

Progress isn't always a straight line. Sometimes you stumble upon a new bit of knowledge that just clicks with you and moves you forward in a big way. For me, it was prioritizing bones over muscles. But that's the tricky thing about self-learning - without guidance, it's easy to aimlessly shoot in the dark and get stuck in an echo chamber.

Since you are learning perspective and want to develop a game grab an old lucas art click and point game and check those backgrounds and study them, think about the graphic design, why are they using x vp in this room and not y?
