Turn on wireframe and rotate the head, try to get that 3d feel, you made the head curved sure but it doesn't seem right, notice where the neck ends and the skull starts.
it helps if you know the skull bones and where things like the trapezius connects to, the spine and you can sorta go from there

This is a common technique. I had darken the soft coloured lineart to stay in tune with the style of the project which unfortunately is not as nice on light characters like this, but overall thats just objectively bad feedback because again its an established technique

I found out about how you can set up the buttons on Intuos to do short cuts, so i set one to ctrl-z and just spammed it as I was drawing. Also started using the transform tool to get stuff roughly in place instead of erasing shit and redrawing the whole line. I do less chicken scratch on paper. Just had to get used to tablet.

I use a veracrypt container and after unmounting the drive, the thumbnails are still showing in pic related as well as in File> open recent in PS, defeating the purpose of using an encrypted drive.
You can set it to remeber 0 in preferences but if you change it back to any number it still shows them.
with Krita once the drive is unmounted the thumbnail dissapears from the "recent douments" list and appears once again when the drive is mounted.

Like I mentioned, it only stops showing them to u but it still logs them.
You can see the last opened files if u change the number from 0 to anything else.
Same with home screen.
You can't really disable it.

When you say shape design do you mean flat shapes or 3d shapes. Ive seen a lot of people using the word shape to describe 3d forms(cube shape, cylinder shape etc.). And also how do you design a shape of a body part? For example the forearm, it is bulging near the elbow and tapering near the wrist, for lolis this tapering is gonna be less noticeable, so how would you "design" that body part if you are limited to that?

"Shape design" in this context just means directly drawing the contours of a body part in 3D. Of course, there are certain things like hands + feet, subtle bumps, and musculature for which this would be difficult to pull off, so your best bets would be arms, legs, torsos and heads which are already close to primitive forms like cylinders and rectangles to begin with. That... Was probably incredibly obvious for anyone foregoing construction already. But rather more importantly, being able to work directly with contours like so affords you more freedom in stylization, which is where your own preferences come in. If you don't like how something is *supposed* to look, or looks from a certain angle -- like chins from below -- then you can change that. My personal fixation is on legs, specifically calves, by the way.

are you anons familiar with this lighting setting? I'm referencing some of alke's work but I don't know how to do the ambient occlusion when it's all so saturated. I'm especially struggling with shading the arms and neck

Use reference. It makes no sense for the bedsheet to be so blue when the body is that saturated and orange. Is it because it's a wip? If not you should really make the light hit the bedsheet too since it makes her look weird. Also, you really should stop your habit of turning lineart into shaded areas. Both buttcheeks should be hit by the light, and probably half of the back and shoulder blade too. Another problem is that the rimlight is too uniform and doesn't show the form well.

Idk what you mean, but saturation and value are relative. If you want to make something look even more saturated consider desaturating everything else instead.

yeah the background is still pretty half assed but I'm trying to get used to different lighting scenarios, especially these where most of the figure in shadow. I forced it to be a backlight only scenario (what I tried to show with the rimlight) but since lowering the window too much made even less sense, I might need to be more creative with the background
about the ambient occlusion, it's just that I usually color it as a dark, saturated warm color since I'm more used to settings where there's more light than dark so the contrast works well but having it more saturated than the body in this drawing made it look weird like it's a second light source instead of the absence of light itself. is this where it loops around and the shadow starts getting close to black, caravaggio style?
