Reminder that I broke this thread's hymen. I took it’s virginity. Anyone else who posts after me is getting my sloppy seconds, my leftovers.

Just remember that the first reply is the most special reply and you'll never experience this thread the way I did and this thread will never feel the way it felt about me about you.

It's over, you might as well just go post on IncelTears and talk about how much of a "man" you are for replying on a thread that I pump and dumped. Have fun with my scraps, cucks

General courses are completely worthless. Only get the super specific autistic shit you're interested in. Video courses are also good if you want to replace all your entertainment with art related things, because video courses cannot be considered more than edutainment.

These are my general thoughts on them. Fitting in video course watching time into your actual study schedule is beyond retarded. But it's not like they don't offer anything at all, so replacing entertainment with watching these course videos is really good. If for example you watch a course video instead of a let's play or some other garbage on youtube you have done yourself a big favor.

I have Vippu but I found it very focused on already knowing gesture and anatomy, which I have little knowledge in as I worked in 3D mainly with enviroments.

I wanted to get a more general theory of drawing and form construction before moving on to that as from what I can tell that would allow me to take much more away from the course.

I could be wrong because I am a complete beginner but my Vippu led gesture studies came out pretty bad, pic related.

You are going to learn "the fundamentals" for your whole life. Getting a ton in the beginning since you start from nowhere and after you've made that basis learning more and more before you die eventually still unsatisfied and feeling you still had much to learn.

In that line the idead is that you know about the fundamentals in a overview way to know where you are getting yourself into before diving deep in it.

To that end watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni4ts22XFsw AND https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax130yILbw0&list=PLVgLT-e3jXPDgeED0pD0BPq8kY1VAZAGa

More on ABOUT THE FUNDAMENTALS (AND HOW TO PRACTICE THEM):
-Beginner's Guide to Art Fundamentals Full Series by Forrest Imel
-Fundamentals Course - A guide for starters in art by Hue Teo

DON'T do Drawing Fundamentals with Thomas Fluharty (Schoolism) it's AWFUL

Drawing Fundamentals Phase I & II aren't as bad but aren't as helpful either, since they pretty much just say: "that's what you should have already known before starting our program".

>I'd go the line of:
The Art & Science of Drawing > Absolute Beginners > Beginner Guide to Drawing > Essentials of Realism with Jonathan Hardesty > Art-Wod Beginner Course > Perspective by Marshal Vandruff > CGMA's FUNDAMENTALS of perspective (if you can find it) > DrawABox > The Art & Science of FIGURE Drawing > Dynamic Sketching with Patrick Ballesteros / Sorie Kim / Peter Han > Drawing Manual > Hot to Draw > Med's Map [It will have become available by the time you get to it.]

If you watch all of those you can still end up in the exact point where you are now if you don't practice enough so also get something that get you organized schedule wise regarding putting daily hours of focussed and uninterruped practice where you disconnect all you devices. Try Deep Work, The Bullet Journal Method, hell even The Power of Habit can help you out.

After all of those you will be more than able to figure out where to go next.

You can't imagine how happy I am to read this. I must have downloaded more than half of the materials you posted but unfortunately I recently lost most of them, and I didn't have a backup (a mistake I won't make again). Good to hear I'll be taking Watts Atelier courses again.

If possible, include as many traditional materials as you can, especially oil paint.

Thanks.

I'm planning to get into some Vilppu to get better at figure drawing and to be a more expresive animator.
Wich course should I do first? Figure drawing, Anatomy, Drawing from imagination?
And on another note. It's okay to do various courses at the same time or should I stick to just one until I finish it?

Without a doubt, it is better to finish one course before starting the other. But I think it's not so bad if you're practicing correlated things, like studying perspective and practicing nature shapes, or studying human body drawing while practicing portraits. But still, it's best to focus your skills on one thing.

I'll give you a good recommendation: get a copy of this book and do the exercises. In a very short time you will gain confidence and develop the ability to draw what you see very well. From there, you can move on to something more robust, like the Watts Atelier drawing courses.

You are 100% retarded if you thought of this as anything other than a jumpstart into the art of drawing. The book presents itself that way, and I made that clear when I talked about migrating to something more robust. In the image, a typical example of evolution. Nothing impressive, but do you know of any courses that take someone from A to B in less than a week? And the upside down drawing is to demonstrate how important it is to abandon symbolic drawing and to learn to represent only what you see, but your dismissive attitude has prevented you from understanding a simple explanation and you think that it is to draw things like this forever . Can't read a fucking three paragraph instruction. Shit crab.

>after every single one the author's smug and self-satisfied

And the exercise doesn't do that. If you're symbol drawing right side up you'll still symbol draw upside down. It does nothing. None of the exercises are helpful in any way. They do nothing for making you see things properly.
>unable to separate a teacher's unpleasant attitude from his methodology

Pretty sure he doesn't do digital. You've got Dorian Iten who do both academic & digital stuff (https://www.dorian-iten.com/))

> in which videos does he uses values rather than construction
Well, in a way, construction implicitly relies on using values, as for each plane you have a different value. It's just that they aren't made explicit at first.

But I think what you're looking for is more something in line with this guy's approach (this one is a monochrome): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqIxZIQZVTY

CGMA Michael Hampton kinda rushed the leg, he should've divided into leg and foreleg like he did with arms, I'd recommend you the Art Science of Figure Drawing by Brent Eviston or Proko Figure Drawing for beginnes. But seen your sketch, I think you need something a bit more simplified, I'd suggest you go Drawing Comics the Marvel Way before Hampton and do some of Mikeymegamega tutorials, people here he's shit and I kinda see their point because he screws a lot on his anatomy, but the idea isn't about drawing fully professional level at the start, the idea is to do easy prjoects so that you get more confidence as you draw AND THEN refine your art with more precise anatomy, David Finch also suggest drawing comics the marvel way for a similar manner.

Looking at your drawings I see you don't know much on draftmanship and perspective either right? Drawwabox and Marshall Vandruff perspective class for that, but at your own risks, they're tedious and boring so it might make you quit your art journey if you try to get to grind a bunch of boxes when you're a beginner, that's why I recommend Mikeymegamega, boobs are the best way to keep you motivated to grind basic level stuff even if they aren't that well drawn

Download? from where? it's not good but it's a balanced compromise between simplified and incorrect.

To give you some examples on what I meant, REIQ is leagues apart better, but he's more advanced and harder to follow if you still struggle withe the fundamentals like simple building blocks of Marvel way, same with Akihito Yoshitomi since he's mute and doesn't talk speaking his process, Mikey is way easier to follow. On the other side of the spectrum, Christopher art and some of those How to Draw Manga books are just AWFULLY MADE! doesn't matter if they're more simplified, at that point is a waste of time because the proportions are all wrong to the point they reach the uncanny valley, Mikey makes quite a few screw ups like connecting the deltoid above the shoulder blade and making legs too fat and short, but more or less can make a believable anime face, Chris Hart books is way worse than that.

In the end is your call where you feel comfortable at following along without feeling overwhelmed and how much precision on anatomy are you willing to sacrifice for the sake of making it easy to follow and applicable when you draw alone in your own pics. Just trying to make my POV clear

>I was doing Dorian excercise on accuracy but it was very short, like 15 mins long only
Not sure I follow.

Getting accurate proportions is simple: eyeball, eyeball, eyeball, measure, eyeball, eyeball, eyeball, measure. Draw in between; eyeball & measure with horizontal/vertical alignements, by identifying repeated measures, evaluate angles, and all the usual gimmicks that you'll find everywhere.

The more you repeat the process, the more accurate your current drawing will be. The more you train, the quicker/more precise you'll become. To give you an idea, after a few years of practice, a precise block-in takes me 3h/4h. A decent one 30min/1h. A quick one is around 1min.

There's not much theory to learn: it's a lot of practice coupled with strong discipline. The goal is to progressively train your eyes to perceive correct proportions, and your arm and hand to correctly reproduce them.

It's not an easy skill to develop. But if you want to develop it, take a simple Bargue plate, and make a 1:1 copy. Try to be as accurate as you can, spend a few hours on it. Once you think you're done, layer (tracing paper if trad) the main lines of the original with your work and compare. Then unlayer, and try to see if you can perceive where you felt short. Rinse & repeat.

>>6618488
Little. Most of the progress I've got is actually from doing master studies/copies, and books are better suited for it. With experience, you kinda know what to look for in tutorials, and you assimilate them more efficiently, because you become able to compensate for not having a personal tutor telling you why and where you fail.

You start with simple proportions of the outline and then zoom in? in how many stages you usually refine proportions? if you were to use a brush that looks like spray paint like that how will you decide the size of the brush? what about values, you don't measure them but how you recheck? will you be able to paint something like this in 4 hours?

Also, it'll be even better if I had some live demonstrations of that process, you say Dorian Iten painted any similar ones in any of them?

Dorian Iten follows a different approach.

You may not like the answer but: just draw. You need to develop a feel for correctness, you need to train your arm and your eyes, and this will take time and a bunch of poor drawings.

No amount of theoretical knowledge will compensate for that. It's like, if I were to tell you exactly how to build a wooden chair, that would be completely useless, because you're unable to keep your hands firm to make a dead straight cut.

Don't overthink it, set yourself some fixed amount of time, a reference material, and do your best. After, very important, take the time to reflect on what you did, what went well and why, what went wrong and why.

Take also the time to watch again that video of yours, and try to understand, when the pro did something different than you, why he did it this way.

Then do another drawing, fixing the process mistakes you've found. Sometimes the mistake is simply: not enough time.

Been looking for a course that kinda takes me through the main medias/materials in the art industry and the differences between the end results or technique needed for them.

So far the only one I came across that kinda seems what I'm talking about is this one from NMA:
https://www.nma.art/courses/introduction-to-materials/

But I've never seen it being shared, not even on CGP, was it really that bad or it's just because most people only want to do digital art?

At least the dude went through pencil colors and watercolor (Watts only paints on oils and guache, both of them are prohibitively expensive in Argentina) and most people I've seen doing pencil colors, acrylics, or watercolor on youtube or Udemy/Skillshare are, well, a piece of garbage that looks like it was made by a kindergarden.

Anyone is willing to share that course from Sheldon Borenstein from NMA or can recommend me a similar course that also goes through all different materials?

nah, I did it trying to study a doujin as close as possible then adding other character. You can either do head-proportions and then do the body parts from top down finishing on hands and feet or you can just watch them all however you feel it's not like they're more or less advanced unless he says so (like advanced bend knee) or he's doing creative stuff like giant women or afroamericans.

His anatomy per-se is very simplified and you'll need more because he rarely mentions main landmarks or muscles, check Michael Hampton or Steve Huston for that (alternatively you can watch Proko anatomy videos which are very theoretical and little practical, but you'll be doing it mostly just to get an idea of main muscles while you keep doing mikeymegemega).

After Mikeymegamega goes Reiq, he learned a lot from him and he's way better than Mikey but he's also quite harder, less emphasis on building blocks and more on gesture and anatomy, which are more precise but also a lot harder to use, check what's makes you improve faster and continue with that one before switching.

For Perspective, get Marshall Vandruff perspective course he did when he was younger and watch Dan Beardshaw videos of perspective, a bit more advanced will be CGMA perspective courses and Moderndayjames becoming a Gi series, if you like books go with Norling-Mateu Mestre-Robertson in that order.

Lasted more than I expected.
Some niggers here are waiting 24/7 for a chance to report these links
Anon should try using hosts who take longer to delete shit

Damn, and I was like 99% done downloading a certain mecha course.
Oh well, at least I was able to down load a couple of stuff before hand

lmao when will you retards ever learn? There are many sites to download the same content but you choose to be spoonfed by another retard!

I downloaded 60gbs of stuff and artbooks in a single link. If I tried the same on occ it would take literal weeks unless I paid.

stop being a poorfag? batanon spends alot to spoonfeed your ass. Why can't you when you guys are probably from the same shithole?

Name one.

Honestly what was the point of encrypting the link? It doesn't stop the content being reported.

Why are they even so easy to report?

they are probably using bots to scrape the links and mass report them

the owners of the courses lurk these threads and can easily take them down

FUCK!!!
Batmanon, will you come back with the link? it broke when I was getting into the schoolism stuff.

>> No.6661332

Unrelated but anyone remember the password for the mogoon psds someone posted here some months ago (モ誰1-50/51-100)? I'm lurking the archive but I can't find anything

>> No.6661357

Not even a bot is needed. Think how many websites are we ripping off. You put an intern lurking this general once a week, and now there are like 20 janitors whose job is to report stuff coming from this general.

>> No.6661374

>>6661357
You're thinking too much about it, companies don't waste money on that when the same users do it for them, most reports are just anons being shitheads.
Some enjoy the reaction of people mad, some don't want materials to be shared with others and report tthe links so people can't get it, some are mad that people are getting shit for free when they paid for it, etc etc.

I'd like to think this isn't normal for 4chan at least, but I've seen people act exactly like that even up to admitting they hand out dmcas.

It is. Don't know why Batanon didn't try it instead of mega.

Don't know, he's kinda dumb considering there are many other hosting sites too. Why waste so much time for the link to get nuked?

Yeah, that was me. I only had it going for 48 hours or so, mainly cause there is one anon who constantly reports me and it is a right pain in the ass constantly fighting him.

Stop posting misinformation anon. I know exactly who kept reporting me and chances are the other people who were do the mass Mega link before me knew full well too. It's just one shithead with a Go Nagai profile pic. This >>6661374 dude got it right.

Yeah, sometime next month or so. I'll just drop it in with a riddle to solve or something like that + a bit more content (speaking of, if someone could rip the rest of the Artwod shit from Online Courses, that would be much appreciated).

That being said, if someone can translate the Tezuka art book, I'll gladly post the link and leave it up for as long as I can.

MECHA COURSE!? Interesting, never seen NMA or Watts talking about mechas, can you tell me more about it? I want to see if I can get it from CGP or OCC
