nearer eye is too 'tall' compared to the other as if they're converging to a vanishing point but that doesn't happen in practice because the space between the eyes is too small to get distorted by perspective. one gets 'narrower' than the other in a 3/4 angle because they're facing different directions, not because one is closer to the horizon (like street crossing marks for example)
shading is too blobby due to the lack of hard edges. I know the artist you like does soft shading but if you pay attention you'll notice he places some hard edges here and there. he seems to paint the brightest value of the limbs in a harder shape for example

Ugh, I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would give advice on lighting instead of me giving my beg opinion but promise is promise.
So: though you presumably have a scene with a single point light and almost no ambient light the shading suggest a lot of ambient light(as under daylight) and there is no consistent light direction - you can find almost directly opposite shadows on the same location(right hand).
What causes flatness - terminator lines crossing figure are almost flat making it looks like figure under light is some sheet of paper without volume.

I once read that thicker lines go where the shadows go, so it's tightly related to the colouring.

I'd make all the skin darker to make it appear more solid in contrast to thin hair and a dress, even darker when it's a part of a silhouette, and also darken where the dress meets the breast. Eyes should pop up more too.

heheh it sure feels nice having your stuff reposted in a good light. anyway, don't know how I can help you as I don't really follow any rules to the letter drawing these, just basic stuff like thinner lines for the wrinkles on the clothes, facial features and hair, for example
after I'm done, I accent some areas with thicker lines such as appealing negative spaces that might occur (like triangles formed between the limbs and torso) and parts of the overall contour that look too jumbled up
