If you don't understand the basic shapes in a 3D form in other to use in your construction you are doing it wrong. Because the point of construction is to break down form in it's basic most simple form so you can have a easier time building whatever you like do build, not only for proportions.

Yeah I'm aware of that. There's a lot of people who have been able to decode the messages and numbers and some of it is already mainstream like how it is used in the greatest architectural works. Even if a lot of it is decoded and you notice on the numbers knowing how to properly use it in your own art is hard without it being a superficial imitation.
