for instance, if i want to draw a knight with his arms raised, how do i figure out what the pauldron (shoulder armor) will look like in this position? what about drawing armors viewed from behind? i can't find such specific stuff on pinterest. my guess would be most artist use 3d models as reference? where can i get them from anyway, is there a website for it?

Actually, this is one of the examples where, and I'm not being a curry eating AI shill here, using an AI would be useful.
Your reference may not even exist, but it should create one for you. Give it a go and let us know if it did decently.

aditionally you should get familiar (if you're not already) with the workings and individual pieces of an actual plate suit, so you can understand, or at least figure logically how they should move given any pose or perspective, so >>6565970 as well is very important

If reference is hard to find, there’s no chance of AI just happening to get it right. AI is only semi-competent at stuff that with thousands or millions of examples.

wow you'r a fucking genius. Just learn to draw everything from every angle. Holy shit, why didnt I think of that? Why do people use references when they could just memorize the known universe from inifinite angles and FOVs...... its as shrimple as that....

I'm not sure if he's on his forties or something, but he's some HEMAfag so he has idea of what he's drawing at least

I agree with this person. I make things that don't exist out of clay to reference when drawing. I draw a lot of fantasy creatures that don't exist so for reference I have constructed their skulls and ears etc. so I can rotate and reference it as needed. It isn't perfect but it's better than nothing.

You could also do the similar for armour once you have studied it enough to construct pieces yourself. This also helps if you create fantasy armour that has no real life reference.

>> No.6571240

I dont actually know how to draw anything. I copy references exactly as I see it, and then that's it. I never need to draw that thing ever again, so theres no gained knowledge. I make construction shapes and they're stiff and shitty. drawing just doesn't make sense, how the hell do people just put a good line on the paper?
