Am I right in thinking the only real difference between Pro and EX are a few features only needed by mangaka/comic artists? Seems like it's just the "convert 2d/3d image to lines and tones" feature plus tools specific to a multi-page document.
The line conversion tool looks pretty cool but I dunno if that alone is worth the significant price difference

I don't know if this just changed recently with 2.0, but on that feature page at least, Pro seems to have virtually all the animation features besides

Adobe are all-in on subscription bullshit, but not even they require you to be online every time you open an app. Celsys have no excuse.
Not everyone lives in an urban area where mobile reception is guaranteed at all times. If I'm on my 1.5h commute and want to use CSP on my laptop for minor edits on a laptop, I don't want to deal with phone tethering and the reception deadzones for half of my commute just to open a program.

My only suggestion for your commute struggle in particular is to grab a smaller iPad (Air or Mini), pay the eternal $10 for Procreate and draw away without any of that bullshit, you can get a lot done in those 1.5hs drawing wise and that combo is as old school as it gets, open and play basically.

https://daub.gumroad.com/l/nDmxJ

little tip if you dont have tilt. i use the Hard pencil with the pen pressure inverted; lower pressure means bigger strokes, and a very steep exponential curve on density. this is best-fit for tilt shading, and vastly improves the sketchy feeling of using a pencil, as you can easily "cut" into the vague shapes you've defined.

Colorlet here wanting to improve my rendering, trying to learn two different styles for how to color- this textured marker style and watercolors. Photo ref for goals, Rizdraws' coloring is exactly what I'd like to achieve for the first point, and @shij10kara has done pieces that are the exact type of watercolor style I'd also like to emulate.

So, anyone got brush sets or texture packs to recommend for emulating these styles?

Anyone have any recommendations for inking brushes like picrel where it's sharp without being blurry, but smooth in that it doesn't have the 'realistic' rough texture or massive line weight variations of say G-Pen. I know it's some HRB but I can't fine tune the line weight.

Even when I keep mucking about with the line weight settings, I can't seem to get a good smooth taper like picrel. I either end up with one with massive line variations or one that starts and ends abruptly and has no line variation.

Get the perma upgrade if you think the updates to it from 1.0 are worth it, if you just want to try and see the 10 dollars for a year pass might be better.
>Is there a benefit to getting the pass vs the regular upgrade?
You get updates all year that will eventually be rolled into the perma 3.0 release, otherwise you are stuck with the 2.0 that's out now.

i was looking at my one of my favorite JP artist's newer upload for Boku no Yabai TODAY and was curious about the Procreate brush bc his linework really appeals to me, and found an older post when he replies "6b sketch brush" and checked some other videos from 2020 where he's showing his UI too.
then i google an alternative for CSP (ive never owned an iPad or know Procreate at all) and land in the same fucking page and realize its $5
so obviously i come to /ic/ to ask for it on the CSP brush threads AFTER MONTHS and turns out it was posted not too long ago kek, what are the fucking odds.

Sounds like a disciple of the dynamic sketching/Peter Han style studying. It's true that it forces you to be more conscious of the marks and shapes you put down. It's worth doing, but remember that it's just one approach out of many. Personally I find this style of sketching to be difficult to do digitally without the grip of paper.
The only thing that is close to being a rule about this is you absolutely, 100% MUST sketch without any stabilizer whatsoever.
Stabilizer is for inking/finished lineart only. Using a stabilizer while sketching trains you to use the wrong muscle memory and be less conscious of your mark making. I did it for a couple of months and I couldn't draw when I picked up a regular pencil. Avoid it at all costs.

Please help me out with the Pencil brushes that can help replicate the exact look on both top and bottom pics, top is from Sirsketchi and bottom is form Sadamoto I think, both of the pencil textures are slightly different on top and bottom right down to shading brush, so technically I would be needing two different brushsets if possible.
