Am I right in thinking the only real difference between Pro and EX are a few features only needed by mangaka/comic artists? Seems like it's just the "convert 2d/3d image to lines and tones" feature plus tools specific to a multi-page document.

iuve gone through dozens of brushes and they all make me worse at drawing. there's just no way to ignore the disconnect between the pen and the tablet. it doesnt even feel like drawing, it feels like gaslighting myself into thinking i put a line on the surface, when its just computer code pretending to be drawn. the brush is either too thick or too thin. too jittery or too blurry.

Adobe are all-in on subscription bullshit, but not even they require you to be online every time you open an app. Celsys have no excuse.
Not everyone lives in an urban area where mobile reception is guaranteed at all times. If I'm on my 1.5h commute and want to use CSP on my laptop for minor edits on a laptop, I don't want to deal with phone tethering and the reception deadzones for half of my commute just to open a program.

little tip if you dont have tilt. i use the Hard pencil with the pen pressure inverted; lower pressure means bigger strokes, and a very steep exponential curve on density. this is best-fit for tilt shading, and vastly improves the sketchy feeling of using a pencil, as you can easily "cut" into the vague shapes you've defined.

picrel is a mix of the 2b with aa and the hard pencil.

Colorlet here wanting to improve my rendering, trying to learn two different styles for how to color- this textured marker style and watercolors. Photo ref for goals, Rizdraws' coloring is exactly what I'd like to achieve for the first point, and @shij10kara has done pieces that are the exact type of watercolor style I'd also like to emulate.

Have a separate set of brushes that work nice at large sizes, Most of those work fine at 1000px. They usually have lower spacing and blending turned off/lowered and some texture compensates.

Anybody got any 3d models of shota body types

Anyone have any recommendations for inking brushes like picrel where it's sharp without being blurry, but smooth in that it doesn't have the 'realistic' rough texture or massive line weight variations of say G-Pen. I know it's some HRB but I can't fine tune the line weight.

Even when I keep mucking about with the line weight settings, I can't seem to get a good smooth taper like picrel. I either end up with one with massive line variations or one that starts and ends abruptly and has no line variation.

Get the perma upgrade if you think the updates to it from 1.0 are worth it, if you just want to try and see the 10 dollars for a year pass might be better.

why do my drawings look so much better when i use a pencil brush instead of pen?

I have v2 the only difference I really noticed is the shading assist tool which if you use on a flat color layer with few colors can do shading for you.

I think it’s pretty good but it’s not replacement for manual shading but I do use it for my first run of shading.

use whatever tools you feel let you create better art. i've noticed myself getting a bit more sloppy with pencil-style brushes because the texture and softness allows me to hide mistakes, so i tend to use smaller harder brushes, but do whatever works for you

Sounds like a disciple of the dynamic sketching/Peter Han style studying. It's true that it forces you to be more conscious of the marks and shapes you put down. It's worth doing, but remember that it's just one approach out of many. Personally I find this style of sketching to be difficult to do digitally without the grip of paper.
The only thing that is close to being a rule about this is you absolutely, 100% MUST sketch without any stabilizer whatsoever.
Stabilizer is for inking/finished lineart only. Using a stabilizer while sketching trains you to use the wrong muscle memory and be less conscious of your mark making. I did it for a couple of months and I couldn't draw when I picked up a regular pencil. Avoid it at all costs.

Anons, if you feel unnatural doing digital, like something is off about your lines, like you have issues that you don't see when you draw on paper, please do yourselves a favor and check out the Taper setting in the Correction section of the brushes you use (right click to see as slider). I just set it to 0 and feel like crying, holy shit, drawing digitally finally doesn't feel like absolute ass.

I've been bothered by drawing feeling off in CSP lately and I tested drawing straight lines with a ruler on my Cintiq21UX and they came out wobbly. No stabilizer and pen pressure off. In PS there is no wobble even with smoothing turned off, but on the other hand PS seems to have some kind of built in stabilizer, so I don't know. Drawing with stabilizer turned off feels more accurate in PS compared to CSP atleast.

Can someone else with a screen tablet and a ruler try the same thing in CSP?
