this might be helpful, it's a good idea to keep some references for proportions and anatomy on hand, there's several spots that show you aren't super comfortable with them yet, like the knee and ankle/foot area.

Good on you for not hiding hands, by the way, yours aren't bad and only feel a little pointy/spindly. When it comes to composition sometimes it's better to not have a limb cross back over the main body, for a more interesting shape.

joints are important landmarks that make a character feel more solid, and hands are one of the most important parts of body language, making them larger makes them easier to see and easier to convey what they suggest.

You really shouldn't just disregard or minimize parts of the anatomy that don't interest you, it all comes together to make a character in the end.

I think hammering anatomy is a better option honestly. I'm going to be honest with you anon, and please understand it is because I genuinely want you to improve, please practice fundamentals. I see what you're going for but it's a complicated piece that might be beyond your skill level. Learn how the body connects, practice proposition and perspective with simple objects, work on faces and then come back to it. You have a lot of ambition which is a good thing, but for your own personal development as an artist, I think it would be best to try a few exercises and simple poses before moving on to more complex stuff. how to do studies in general? for render studies in particular I would draw a similar pose, draw in the anatomy, then paint over it while studying how he goes from flat colours, to shadow, highlights, bounce light and rimlight. that pretty much covers it

If you're not sure, just experiment a bit. Keep the flats intact however you want, then start with some cel shading/hard edge shadows using just one shadow color for each material. Then you can add a few highlights. If you want even more realism you can add more layers of shadow/midtone.

As a coomer extraordinaire, I suggest you emphasize your female figures curviness more. Make their waists a hair smaller or their hips wider depending on body type. Also take more time to focus on the contour lines that make up the midsection and legs. Put your love and appreciation for the female form in there.

it looks like he's looking a bit more towards the camera than he should be if those perspective lines are suggesting the angle of the chair he's sitting. Either change the where the chair is sitting to face closer to the camera or redraw your oc to look more away.
