Im needing characters to fill in a commission sheet because it turns out I have no shit to showcase, so I'll be checking this thread to see if I get to draw someone's characters.

No, what I wanted to showcase here is how the whole outfit is layered, they're not variation to one another, they're all from the same design (I do want to make variations of this outfit in the future though)

Its a cute character, but it really does feel like very generic sorta cute kids show girl, a sorta background adult character. The outfit looks pretty much like every maid girl ever designed but simplified.

I don't think layering is necessary for a commission sheet unless you're doing commissions for something like L2D where having various layers and outfits is something people look for. But for just character design and illustration just seeing the finished outfit is good enough imo.

She is my self insert and she is based on Eddsworld, although exclusevly on pre-2012 eddsworld, when it was literally just people doing stuff about their cartoon avatars, and she doesn't really have any connections with main 4.
I generally characterize her as being aloof and slightly shy cloudcuckoolander, but she is also a total asshole.
I'm sorry if I polluted this thread with her, but I also generally deliver back (most of the time it sucks though, but still) and not just ask to draw my oc, soooo I guess I have the right lol

This is Celli, she's a fun girl, just likes doing whatever comes to mind at the moment. If she dies her conscious goes back in time a day.

Well, long story short, she is a young human working as a waitress in a small town of a fantasy-ish world. Her name is "ButterPie", that's the name she was given to by the owners of the cafe. She is cheerful young lady with a lot of energy and determination, though she is also very reckless and emotionally immature, often unable to see the consequences of her actions. Despite her natural ability to get in troubles, she acts in good will and is always happy to be helpful and determined to do the right thing no matter what, which has saved her and others from disaster in more than one occasion. Also, despite her cutesy personality, she can totally kick ass (she's trained herself intensively to be very athletic and a good fighter).

If it helps, I didn't mean it in a necessarily bad way. I dig the style, she just needs a little more star power to her design otherwise she just looks too tame, especially combined with a maid type outfit, she looks like the cute maid npc you'd run into in an indie game.

Just add a bit more detail to give some information on her personality, even if its something as basic as MLP and adding a cutie mark to her boobs, it shows she's not just a barely detailed BG character.

I guess it's because I was told way before that I got that issue covered, but it seems I somehow regressed and made her design tamer and generic, which makes sense looking back, considering I've been "polishing" her design a lot since, in the process I may have stripped her away from the elements that made her stand out, even a little bit.
It may not be that much of a difference, but a few iterations ago, she used to have two hairpins, a comically large bow, sneakers and the chain of her pocket watch exposed; you can say they are not a huge difference, but they were of some help as visual cues.

I don't know if you were looking for feedback of this nature, but I think your character is very cute and I like to design outfits, so I gave her's a shot.

As mentioned previously, her outfit doesn't really express who she is as a character. I see 'maid' with the dress, but I don't really see waitress or fighter. So I tried to bring those elements in by redesigning her dress--a suspender skirt feels a bit younger and more lively, giving her a collared shirt like a waitress would wear, etc. The sneakers and socks feel sporty, so I gave her some sporty fighting girl gloves. Also, I know you said you're not keen of the ribbon, but I love it. It's so cute, and a long ribbon like that can show a lot of movement in an actiony pose, which is fun.

I also think the shade of purple you picked is a bit clashy with the other colors in the design. I changed it to a shade of purple that's a bit more muted and has more red in it so it works with the bright pink and yellow better.

Ten nails in her fingers and four long ones in her arm, First time experimenting with pixel brush and blood.

Here's a 4 for 1. If i may, id like to herr what you guys think about the concepts of the dinosaurs in particular. The humans are typical protagonists, security guard Bruce Nette and Biologist Dr. Belle Onde. They try to escape the dinosaur planet, Venus while being hunted by the pair of ceratosauruses, Doe and Stag. I find the various hunting strategies for animals to be interesting and so i came up with some and i wanted to here if you guys thought it was interesting. When i was younger, it was the common belief that female therapods were larger than males, as seen in many bird species. So Doe, the most for ground dino, is considerably bigger than her mate and serves as the "hunter" in their strategy. Stag is the smaller male, but to compensate for this, as well as to express his sexual selective health, has more exagurated features. His horns are more pronounced and his plumage functions similarly to a lions mane. Males are also much faster and vicious, so they serve as a "baiting-dog."
So the male would bait a hunted animal and prep the animal into a distracted position for the female to deliver a quick killing blow. A male may have a short temper, but he needs to follow the game plan, and a female might be bigger, but must show care and respect to earn the male's trust.
It might be a little silly, but i had fun thinking about how things wor while i draw them. Do any of you guys do the same?

Well if you really want to know it’s because I spend 2-4 hours drawing for anonymous people on 4chan every day and about 80% of the time I don’t get a single response for it. Not by random anons and not even by the person I drew for.
at this point I’m not the worst drawfag around either so it really should at least warrant a thank you or a “cute!” But most the time I get nothing for my effort. If I draw some fotm on pixiv I can get 100 bookmarks or so but it’s not as personal.

Another fix. I think I'll leave these threads for a while once I'm done delivering others because I'm not in the right mental state. I genuinely thought these OC redraw threads were going to fix this, but they only made it worse.
I decided to draw this sketchy format because they're easy to draw, and also because I wanted to experiment with posing/proposions/versatility, as well as find the consistency, because in early OC redraw threads they were very inconsistent and boring most of the time. It was fun at first, and I think the deliveries were decent at first, but the quality of these sketches declined eventually, and I tried less and less as the threads went on.
I'm sorry for ruining this thread guys. Whining out here is not an excuse to make shitty deliveries, but I still said it.
