Eh, I don't think the order really matters, just make sure you're defining the extreme ranges in all of hue, saturation, and value as early as possible as your eyes can get acclimated to lifeless colors real quick. Tinkering with levels as you go is also a real lifesaver, don't feel bad about it.

I'm not sure why you want to do that, but what you could try if you want to move traditional drawings into digital is.
Take a picture, upload it to your pc, and use sai to create a clean lineart of it on PC.
The reason why I recommend sai is that you can work with lines as vectors there, so "tracing" over your photo wit ha mouse would be relatively easy, I used to do that when I was in highschool.
Not sure what other software has it.

-Back of her head is misaligned
-Neck isn't properly connected
-Shoulders (esp. proper right) are misplaced
-Trapezius muscles are missing
-Proper left arm is too long, fingers should have an additional phalange
-Proper right wrist is broken - the wrist & forearm will actually rotate when dropped like that. Now I could have dropped it lower, sure. You can probably transform it
-Proper right thigh does not connect to hip. Those shorts don't seem that tight fitting, so they should float slightly above the thigh, not dent it
-Proper left thigh is serviceable, but I did provide a form suggestion

okay so i fixed it up based on suggestions.
I still feel like the forearm towards the viewer was correct before but still.
Also the hand feels a bit uncomfortable but i can still do it so hopefull its not broken for this pose.

Why are some long loli arms are okay while for others people say they're too long
Tons of kids and pre teens have long ass arms.
Like the elbow goes past the torso and the wrist is almost up to the crotch.
I mainly notice this for more skinier girls.

People in this thread focus a bit too much on the technical aspect of a drawing and they forget that many artstyles don't exactly follow the "natural" rules, like having longer limbs or bigger heads.
But in the end is just following the trend towards more realistic anatomy and rendering that most asian artists have been following for the last decade.

That specular makes it look like her clothes are made of plastic. Doesn't look like rim light if that's what you were going for. You need to do real life lighting studies because you're pretty much symbol drawing the lights.

You messed up because you made the edge dark. The color of the light in the clothes is also off. Reflected light keeps the color of the light, like you did in your painting, instead of being absorbed like diffuse, and the rim light is not reflected light. Also it's like you're scared to get rid of your lines. alphonse doesn't do that He has sharp edges without lines. If you want to improve your painting I'd recommend you don't go back to sketches.

The rimlight is just light from a light source that is behind the character. It could be any color, it could be any intensity. It could be from any source, but you have to be consistent. If the neck has "normal sunlight" why doesn't everything else? Think about that. Also group your values consistently.

that's fair, cast shadows overlap form shadows, right? I use a multiply layer to do cast shadows but maybe it's not a good idea to use it for the ambient occlusion

You have to consider the materials. The shirt and the skin are rather flat in value in the shadow. The skirt is black but it's reflecting a lot of ambient light, just like the horn reflects the environment. I don't think the light is super consistent in this image, but you may also break the rules for readability.
