I'm getting into wood carving/whittling. I wanted to make cute little dolls and puppets from wood.
It's a little hard, but fun as well. Though the hardest part is finding the time to do it.

>AI

Reminder that """AI""" recently was exposed for literally just copying its training data and not "using it to learn like a human and producing something new". AI art for commercial use is dead in the water and you have nothing to worry about.

You can literally already make 3D renders with AI retard. Why would it matter if AI can do the same thing? If you enjoy the art you make and think AI art is ugly then what's the problem?

Wow. Also the newest model removed a lot of the duplicates. Case is dead in the water.

Those only were almost perfect matches, you pajeet. They didn't even consider the slightly less close matches, but still infringing matches, which are way more likely to be found. You will lose the lawsuit, you dirty indian.

Holy retard
It's like the people just shouting random buzzwords without understanding them, that's what you are doing, also
>"using it to learn like a human and producing something new"
Humans don't produce stuff out of thin air, they need reference points and data to create anything. By default anything you make is derivative simply because you have life experience. You are trying to make a table? You seen thousands of tables in your life, and so you know how a table is supposed to look like, so you make it so. The way AI and humans learn is different, but the entry point and exit point are exactly the same. Both take in sample data to output composite product.

>> No.6508672

>>6508652
An algorithm that need to process billions of images without permission to be usable can't and shouldn't be treated the same way as a human. Not to mention it's impossible for humans to crunch that amount of data like that. Just because someone in the field called it "learning" it doesn't mean it's remotely similar to what humans do. You're being disingenuous, pajeet.

>> No.6508681

>>6508672
You are being retarded, Kashmir
Unlike the algorithm, you have benefit of at least 18 years worth of memories, during which you've seen gigantic amounts of data, more than the software could reliably process. Also, unlike the software, you have the benefit of being able to see one object at multiple angles, it has to work off similarities between different objects. And the best thing out of them all is, you can make a model entirely free of copyrighted materials, but you cannot do that yourself Kashmir, due to amount of copyrighted material you ingest daily. So in the end, AI is potentially more ethical than humans are.
And no, it shouldn't be treated same way as a human as it's merely a tool, an extension of a person

It's basswood. Out of all those tools I use 2 knives 90% of the time and could get away with using only one.

Not pictured : leather strop to keep the knives sharp, some sandpaper to finish the carving and sharpen the knives, and linseed oil to finish and protect the carvings. A small saw is useful too.

If you are interested I would recommend starting with only one knife and a few pieces of basswood and go from there. It's all you really need for a near infinite amount of possibilities.

Oh and maybe some bandages too lol.

You don't get the consent of artists who's work inspired your own over the course of your entire life. You've seen billions of objects over your lifetime and that is what informs your style. You don't create in a vacuum.

Because we probably like creating stuff and come up with our own idéas and becoming a prompter is not gona cut it for most creative people. Especially not those of us with a lot of experience.
Becoming a buttonpusher for an algorithm is not the same as creating something from your own skillset that you've honed for years. Obviously.

You would know if you were one of us that you can't compare the two.
We're driven by other incentives than quick bucks and efficiency. It's a true joy to a lot of us to be able to express ourselves through our mediums, to push boundaries and overcome. It becomes adictive once you see that you can indeed overcome and you find yourself in your work.
The creative freedom of being able to convey dreams and idéas, the feeling of fullfilment and wonder is unmatched. Like no other.

Imagine wanting to replace that with prompting. I would rather be a hobo on the streets.

Might seem vague and I'm sure some other anon could explain it better but all of this is self explanatory and motivations will change depending on the person.
We're creative people. We're not wired like the technerds that primarily use these AI algorithms.

>>6505786

I've been 3D modelling again for a couple of months now and it's fun. I like it but I always miss the feeling I get from drawing on paper or digitaly. The messyness of the whole process and how quickly you can put idéas down.
Not having to worry about a whole bunch of technical problems and processes is liberating.
Also I've noticed that I get so caught up in it that I neglect my paintings/ drawings and I regress. There is a bit to catch up on everytime I get back to drawing.
Feels a bit like a half assed sacrifice because to me nothing beats drawing and painting. It's my passion and I always come back to it.

I guess it depends on you and wether you find that you can make that compromise to juggle between mediums or if you want to replace one with the other.
Try it out. See for yourself.
