how valuable is it to be true to the idea in your head anons?
When I try to stick 1 to 1 to this infallible image blurry image in my head that doesn't exist I seem to be unable to to create something wonderful. But when I allow that idea to be developed and changed into something entirely different during the process it's kino.
Was my idea bad all along? I don't understand it.

What I see in my head is usually false as it's an image from 100 different perspectives all at once i'm seeing a moving scene not a flat image and that can't translate well. Sometimes when i'm drawing i'll just randomly draw lines and then i'll think, this line looks like they're doing this pose and then I draw that.

Cool user, cool art. Whizzard's are feels a little stagnant and like its not heading in one direction in a hurry, but its not necessarily a bad thing, his art has great appeal and has improved. Multiple mediums from time to time gives the vibe of a person who truly loves creating art their own pace. I guess I can start, if you go back to tsutra's first submissions there were a lot more actual illustrations, doing so many studies is pointless if it you're not applying any of it. Even when you do it's loose sketches that don't push you to properly answer the problem you're faced with, so you won't know if you've actually learned anything until you go back to pushing things further.

The secret is that acrylics are actually very difficult, due to how fast everything dries up. It's almost like water color, where achieving high appeal is expert maxxx level hard. What's weird is that kids always start off being taught with acrylics and watercolors, I assume because they're easier to clean up and less toxic. This skews the perceived difficulty of oils for a lot of people.

Comfortzoned artist. Has improved ever so slightly over a massive amount of time. Very, very nice lineart with clean works and is very good at what they typically draw. They really need to commit to color/painting like they say they're going to, multiple times, but always drops moments later. Their attempts over the years shows a lot of work could be done understanding how to represent forms turning in space, which can even be seen in the linework. Desperately needs to step outside their familiar zone and be more willing to be bad at something new so they can reach new heights.

Good points anon. The "ask about things that actually interested me" thing is hard to pull off in practice, but it perhaps it just needs more practice. They'd mention one thing that sparked my interest, but by the time I wrote a question about it, they'd already move on to a slightly different subject or ask a question on their own.
There's also problem of open questions. I feel that I can't be brief with them (like you suggested) without coming off as dismissive.

At the end of the day I DO want them to like me and to have fun talking to me. I just don't know how to learn this, where to even start.

I think that's a literally impossible goal with a stranger and you'll be causing a weird conversation if you try and make jokes or relate to them on a deeper level than you know them, the most you can do is match them. If they ask a question, then answer and if it leads to another question in your mind then ask. The conversation should always just be respectful and friendly, like someone wants to buy something from your IRL shop, and maybe they notice you're wearing a nice shirt and they comment on it or something so you respond and say you like their shoes or something. It's not really something you can quantify or prepare yourself for, some people are weird, some people are awesome. Just try to be respectful and truthful in the moment. Trying not to drop your spaghetti and say something weird for me literally just took watching my coworkers deal with the weirdos (I worked near a hospital). Smiling and nodding.

it sounds like they want to do the talking, so don't worry about it. Human interaction takes getting used to and it's not something to be fearful of as long as you're being friendly and responding to things they ask and not treating them like you haven't got the time (unless you really haven't)
I empathise with your thoughts a lot and it's how I felt when I first had to talk to customers IRL "am I doing this right" "is this too rude or dismissive" and really the only answer is to use informal friendly language and be truthful in the moment, that's all you can do, and the self doubt can fuck right off because you're doing your best. do it enough and you won't even worry if you're doing it right.

I wasn't using it ONLY because I wasn't aware it's a thing.

When I have art to crit, I post it in the places you mentioned, but also on dad.gallery, just like everyone here. This app makes this art on dad.gallery more visible for critiques. There's literally no downside to using it alongside other methods you mentioned.
If all you want is to get a critique, then using this app boils down to adding "critme" in the title of your submission. It's literally that simple.

But still I was wondering about this realistic paint studio. Not updated since late 2021. No cracks on the wild. Does it steal my GUID for the trial? Is it good or is it shit? Are the devs russians? How do they manage to get payment through the sanctions?

Complimenting a lot of users is nice but I have to agree that it does loose a lot of effect when it's too generic. It doesn't sound as genuine if you repeat that compliment to every user on the site. The ones I find more memorable are those that focus on one aspect of my work, that refers to some of my previous work maybe, or that shows that the commenter actually paid attention in some way.

But hey, feel free to comment as much as you like, nobody is going to hate you for it and it's always better than pointless criticism.

It's a paint tube squeezer. You put a tub of paint in there, rotate the "key" and paint goes out. According to advertisements it's more effective than just using your fingers. It may not help much on a single tube, but over the course of years it could save quite a bit and professional grade of paint can be really expensive.

when I used to paint trad I think I might've thought that I would like something like that once and never again, once you begin to run out of a paint you should buy a new one anyway. And just by hand strength alone you can get all but the last scrapes out. Some cunts I used to let borrow my paints in school always squeezed from the top rather than the bottom making it even harder to get all the paint out of the tube.
